NY Yankees 23-16 at NY Mets 24-16 - 7:10pm ET

NYY: R. Johnson (5-4, 5.13) vs. NYM: J. Gonzalez (0-0, 5.40)

The Big Useless against the Junior Varsity.  While the thought of a crippled Randy Johnson having to bat scared me at first, I remember now that he will be knocked out of the game before his spot in the batting order comes up, so it’s no longer a concern.

$17M/year for a replacement level pitcher.

Johnson isn't even replacement-level right now.
   106. Cutter Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:38 PM (#2027686)
It would be great if someone from the Mets lost control of a swing and let the bat fly, hitting Randy right square in the knee.

Wright swung at ball four. Dang it.
   108. Banta Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:39 PM (#2027688)
Wright has not been THE FRANCHISE in a bit.

David Wright is disappointing me a lot lately.

   116. neknhaM yrraL Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:41 PM (#2027697)
Boy, the lineup drops off considerably after David.

As we can see.

Randy gets a K on a pitch he misses the location on completely!
Posada set up down and in, and the pitch was high and away...

phew..that was hard hit too
   122. Cutter Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:43 PM (#2027703)
Great to know that Randy might get in a solid 4 innings of work today. Way to contribute, dickless.
   123. NJ in DC Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:43 PM (#2027704)
Going back to something said on the first page, no one would have caught the ball that fell in front of Melky.
   124. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:44 PM (#2027706)
Does that mean we get the Scott Erickson show in the third?

I can't wait to see Mr. Lisa Guerrero.
   125. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:44 PM (#2027707)
Please tell me the Mets won't start Lima or Gonzalez ever again. Soler, Pelfrey, Heilman, I don't care. Just get rid of these two.
   126. Cutter Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:45 PM (#2027708)
4 pitches and 2 outs. Good to see that the Yankees are smart enough to continue to work Gonzalez. ugh, what idiots.
   127. Joshemy Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:46 PM (#2027709)
1-2-3 from Gonzalez. Woo!
   128. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:46 PM (#2027710)
That inning was a significant improvement.

Wow, what a change in this game. GO JEREMI

Nice inning.
   131. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:46 PM (#2027713)
JEREMI GONZALEZ!
   132. Cutter Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:47 PM (#2027714)
Great, Gonzalez settling in.
Randy, lets see if you can hold them to 3 again, this inning.
   133. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:47 PM (#2027716)
Good job by Gonzalez to have a quick inning after the big one by the Mets.
   134. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:49 PM (#2027717)
Posada out of the game? We'll take it.
   135. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:49 PM (#2027718)
Anyone can have lucky innings. Gonzalez is still a piece of crap. His greatest attribute is the fact he's slightly better than Jose Lima.
   136. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:49 PM (#2027719)
The good news is that the Mets will be playing Columbus by Sunday.

Posada out, Stinett in.

This is the season from Hell.
   140. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:50 PM (#2027723)
Man, that's ###### up. Randy told Posada that he didn't want to throw to him and Jorge just walked off.
   141. neknhaM yrraL Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:50 PM (#2027725)
Oh, great. Now Posada's hurt.

This season's pretty much over now, isn't it?
   142. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:50 PM (#2027726)
Oh #### me!
   143. Cutter Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:50 PM (#2027727)
So Posada is hurt now. GREEAAT, now Stinnett is in. That guy is worse than my sister. If you are watching, watch how much he misses by when he swings. Its like he's just swinging without any intention of making contact.
   144. Banta Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:51 PM (#2027728)
OFF, is that true?
   145. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:51 PM (#2027729)
Posada's not hurt. He got into a fight with Johnson says Howie Rose.
   146. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:51 PM (#2027730)
Randy seems to miss his spots a lot.
   147. Antigonos Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:52 PM (#2027731)
he got in a fight with johnson? and they took posada out?

Posada's not hurt. He got into a fight with Johnson says Howie Rose.

I'll wait until I hear it from a second source.

Great AB by Valentin. Wow, Randy must really suck.
   151. NJ in DC Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:53 PM (#2027735)
Wait...did The Big Useless really get in a fight with Posada? If so...what a ####### idiot. I hate him.

Jorge is such a sensitive guy.
   153. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:54 PM (#2027738)
11 pitch at-bat walk for Valensuck!
   154. Cutter Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:54 PM (#2027739)
Ya know what? F You, Randy. IF you are so dumb as to force Posada out of the game in favor of 0-49 Stinnett, then you deserve to lose. Get the hell off the Yankees.
You need all the run support you can get and you just benched one of the more consistent hitters right now for a guy that can't hit ####.

I HATE YOU, RANDY. You are worse than Kevin Brown.
   155. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:54 PM (#2027740)
That 3-2 pitch looked like a strike to me.
   156. cult of basebaal Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:54 PM (#2027742)
so wait ... it's posada's fault you suck???

#### you big ugly

Beautiful AB Valentin!

Sterling is c'plaining about Stinnett following A-Rod in the line-up...

Nice job Jeremi.
   160. neknhaM yrraL Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:55 PM (#2027746)
Doesn't it feel like the Yankees are already losing?
   161. NJ in DC Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:55 PM (#2027747)
I wish someone would kill Randy Johnson. I really do, what a worthless piece of ####.
   162. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:57 PM (#2027749)
Can't blame Jose for trying to teeing off Randy there. I would try too if I was facing him.
   163. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:58 PM (#2027751)
Posada must call a really shitty game. I mean, first inning with Jorge, 3 runs. Now, second inning with Stinnett, no runs.
   164. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:58 PM (#2027754)
Valentin stole third standing up? Um, okay.
   165. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 07:59 PM (#2027755)
Let me tell you, if Randy forced Posada off, in this game, in this series, there is a chance it will be written about in the papers, and perhaps even discussed on the FAN.
   166. Cutter Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:00 PM (#2027756)
Doesn't it feel like the Yankees are already losing?

Its so true! I really hope Randy retires tonight. The bullpen will be all used up after this game and screw us for the rest of the series and for the Sox series.
   167. Bicycle RepairMan Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:01 PM (#2027758)
Wait, this is BS.
Did Posada really leave cos of Randy Johnson?

( so you can say, Posada's problem is a randy johnson, which was Steve garvey's too! )
   168. eric Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:01 PM (#2027760)
getting some interesting audio here on the commercial break on MLB.TV. "Where's Webby? Where's Webby? Front your ass!" (whatever that means.)
   169. Cutter Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:02 PM (#2027762)
Spasms for Posada, not Randy. My apologies to him.

But you still suck, Randy.
   170. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:02 PM (#2027763)
5,6,7,8 in the lineup for the Yankees is Stinnett, Cano, old Bernie Williams, and Cabrera?
   171. Raskolnikov Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:02 PM (#2027764)
I love it. Not only is Johnson killing the Yanks on the mound, he's ripping the team apart as well. I hope this leads to a civil war in the clubhouse.
   172. Bicycle RepairMan Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:03 PM (#2027766)
he said, " go fry your ass"
   173. Repoz Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:04 PM (#2027767)
Back spasms for Posada...day to day
   174. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:04 PM (#2027768)
Jesus, take him out. He just gave up a hit to Kelly ####### Stinnett.
   175. Raskolnikov Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:04 PM (#2027769)
Not a bad idea to pitch around ARod with Stinnet behind him.
   176. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:04 PM (#2027771)
Giving up a hit to Stinnett? Ever think of working down in the zone, you garbage pitcher?
   177. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:04 PM (#2027772)
Not a good start... walking A-Rod with Posa Stinnett up.. ugh, it doesn't matter with these pitchers anyway
   178. AJM Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:04 PM (#2027773)
Great, I guess Gonzalez is only good in even numbered innings.
   179. Banta Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:04 PM (#2027774)
Ugh, come on, Jeremi.
   180. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:05 PM (#2027777)
Wow. Gonzalez is really a horrible pitcher.
   181. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:06 PM (#2027779)
It would be awesome if Gonzalez could mix in the occasional offspeed pitch or breaking ball.
   182. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:06 PM (#2027780)
Gonzalez has a straight fastball and a nothing breaking ball. And he challenges hitters with this "stuff." Ghastly.
   183. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:07 PM (#2027782)
This is the perfect game to strech Heilman. If Randolph does it right, Aaron can be starting next Thursday.
   184. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:07 PM (#2027784)
Tom Seaver is highly annoying.
   185. AJM Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:07 PM (#2027785)
If Randolph does it right

Not likely.
   186. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:08 PM (#2027786)
As per Tom McCarthy: Omar mentioned bringing up Pelfrey and Soler pregame to the media, if they have success in Double-A.
   187. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:09 PM (#2027788)
Seaver reminding us how happy we are for him not to be in the booth any more this year.

   189. Cutter Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:11 PM (#2027794)
The Yankees just called me. They want me to catch Moose tomorrow.
   190. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:11 PM (#2027795)
You've got to be kidding me. Why is nobody warming up? Stupid Willie.
   191. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:11 PM (#2027796)
Howie says Mets are looking to replace Lima before his next start.

And Gonzalez can't even get Johnson out. AND THERE IS NO ONE WARMING UP.
   192. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:11 PM (#2027797)
I'm against moving Heilman to the rotation.
   193. AJM Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:11 PM (#2027798)
Ugh.
   194. neknhaM yrraL Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:11 PM (#2027799)
HAHAHAHAHAHA! He got on! LOL!
   195. Banta Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:11 PM (#2027800)
Oh good god. This back end of the rotation is gonna make me do something crazy.
   196. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:12 PM (#2027803)
The key question is when. We can't continue running these two out there.

Oh god. He gave up a hit to Johnson.
   197. Cutter Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:12 PM (#2027804)
take 2 more pitches, Johnny.
   198. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 19, 2006 at 08:13 PM (#2027807)

All right, admirable effort. Now take him out after three Willie. DON'T EVEN LET HIM START THE FOURTH.

Critical point of the game.
