NY Yankees 23-16 at NY Mets 24-16 - 7:10pm ET

NYY: R. Johnson (5-4, 5.13) vs. NYM: J. Gonzalez (0-0, 5.40)

The Big Useless against the Junior Varsity.  While the thought of a crippled Randy Johnson having to bat scared me at first, I remember now that he will be knocked out of the game before his spot in the batting order comes up, so it’s no longer a concern.

Okay. Time for Carlos to bust out.
   402. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:36 PM (#2028159)
You have to leave Heilman in unless his spot comes up. He's only thrown 18 pitches.
   403. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:37 PM (#2028163)
Delgado is lunging at some bad pitches these days.
   404. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:37 PM (#2028166)
You gotta be kidding me, Delgado.
   405. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:39 PM (#2028167)
Doctor Proctor has some decent stuff.
   406. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:39 PM (#2028169)
Wright hasn't homered in May. I'm just saying.
   407. AlouGoodbye Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:39 PM (#2028171)
That boy is utterly overwrighted.
   408. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:41 PM (#2028173)
Not exactly getting anything done against Proctor.
   409. neknhaM yrraL Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:41 PM (#2028174)
The issue with Proctor has always been control. In the past he's been good or wild. So far this year he's been not wild.
   410. Banta Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:41 PM (#2028175)
So, uh, game calmed down a bit, huh?
   411. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:43 PM (#2028177)
Kevin "Pokey" Reese.
   412. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:45 PM (#2028183)
Kevin Reese's Gameday photo is great! You have to check it out.
   413. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:47 PM (#2028186)
Yeah, I would bunt too if I was Jeter. That's the only way you're getting on against Heilman.
   414. Joshemy Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:48 PM (#2028189)
That is great Matt. Great!
   415. Banta Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:49 PM (#2028192)
Awesome work by Heilman.
   416. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:49 PM (#2028193)
Delgado's done nothing until now. HUGE play.

Heilman kicks ass.
   417. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:49 PM (#2028194)
Heilman: 9-for-9. He's the awesome.
   418. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:50 PM (#2028195)
Heilman rules.

Real nice scoop by 'gado.
   419. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:50 PM (#2028196)
Nice Scoop by Delgado.
   420. AJM Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:50 PM (#2028197)
Heilman still rules.
   421. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:50 PM (#2028199)
Flashing the leather, Delgado!

Terrific performance by Heilman.

Automatic out, Valentin, Floyd/Franco coming up.
   422. Chris Dial Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:52 PM (#2028201)
Just an absolutely outstanding effort from Heilman.

Okay, let him start.
   423. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:52 PM (#2028202)
pr0FF3ss0r_F4rnsw0rth!
   424. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:52 PM (#2028203)
What a worthless bunt. You suck Kaz.
   425. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:53 PM (#2028205)
Kaz does his best Neifi impression.
   426. Banta Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:53 PM (#2028207)
Okay, let him start.

I love it.
   427. villainx Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:56 PM (#2028210)
Okay, let him start.

Dial, let's see him do the same thing 2nd time around the lineup!
   428. Banta Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:56 PM (#2028212)
Come on, Cliff!
   429. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:57 PM (#2028213)
Floyd is 3-for-9 against Farnsworth; 1-for-9 against Austin Powers.
   430. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:57 PM (#2028214)
A Cliff Floyd moonshot would really hit the spot righht about now.
   431. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:57 PM (#2028215)
Proctor has thrown more pitches than any other pitcher ever, ever.
   432. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:59 PM (#2028218)
One scoreless frame from Wagner is all I ask for. I like our chances to win it in the bottom of the 9th.
   433. Banta Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:59 PM (#2028219)
Dial, let's see him do the same thing 2nd time around the lineup!

Heilman would be happy to show you, but a guy named Lima has been blocking him from doing so.
   434. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 09:59 PM (#2028220)
Floyd back below .200.

Enter Sandman?
   435. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:00 PM (#2028223)
LaRoche hit a grand slam in the first. Braves are up 5-0 on Arizona.
   436. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:01 PM (#2028225)
It's funny how people can see the same thing and draw far different conclusions. To me, Heilman's performance underscores how important he is in the bullpen. I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying it's funny.
   437. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:02 PM (#2028227)
Petit is into the game for Florida in the tenth. He's looked outstanding so far.
   438. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:03 PM (#2028228)
And Petit gives up a bomb to Huff. Game over.
   439. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:03 PM (#2028232)
Doesn't Petit have just one appearance?
   440. AJM Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:04 PM (#2028233)
K!
   441. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:05 PM (#2028234)
Doesn't Petit have just one appearance?

No, two. He made the Braves look silly for three innings the other day.
   442. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:05 PM (#2028235)
Phils lose again.
   443. AJM Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:05 PM (#2028237)
KKK!
   444. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:05 PM (#2028238)
Wags!
   445. Banta Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:05 PM (#2028239)
Russlan, I'd like to see Heilman in the rotation, but I've never thought it was a slamdunk. The only thing that should be a slamdunk is NO MORE LIMA.

I will keep on saying it until it happens. It levels me.

That was Wagner's best inning as a Met.
   446. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:05 PM (#2028240)
HOLY #### BILLY WAGNER!
   447. Joshemy Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:06 PM (#2028243)
Wagner rocks.
   448. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:06 PM (#2028244)
Great job by Wagner. Looper would have given up a bomb to Giambi there.

Jose, get on.
   449. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:07 PM (#2028245)
OK, I didn't realize Petit made his debut against the Pirates.
   450. AlouGoodbye Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:07 PM (#2028246)
Who's up next for the Mets?
   451. kevin Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:07 PM (#2028247)
I'm as big a supporter of AIDS research as anybody but if I hear the snapping finger commercial on Sportsline again, I'm going to snap.
   452. Russlan roots for the the mediocre Mets Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:07 PM (#2028249)
Wagner has 9 K's in his last three innings.

You know what's kind of sad? A-Rod would totally be a Met if Minaya were the GM then.
   453. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:08 PM (#2028250)
Mariano in a tied game? What is Torre thinking?
   454. AlouGoodbye Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:08 PM (#2028253)
Delgado, Reyes, A-Rod, Wright. That's a hell of an infield.
   455. tfbg9 Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:09 PM (#2028254)
All right, you ##########, just get a damn run, OK?

Is Jeter OK?
   456. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:09 PM (#2028255)
I wonder if Torre uses Rivera in the same situation if the Yankees are facing Kansas City. Yeah, sure, Joe, these games don't mean more.
   457. kevin Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:09 PM (#2028256)
If you catch a break, you all need to peruse the Belle thread. RDF.
   458. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:10 PM (#2028257)
Joe Torre: Master Hypocrite.
   459. tfbg9 Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:10 PM (#2028258)
Nobody can make that play like Jeter.
   460. good_ol_gil Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:10 PM (#2028259)
Spare us the cutter.
   461. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:11 PM (#2028260)
You know what's kind of sad? A-Rod would totally be a Met if Minaya were the GM then.

You got that right.
   462. AlouGoodbye Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:12 PM (#2028261)
Kevin, Gagne is a nice enough guy even if he's totally lame. You shouldn't mock him too hard or he'll get really upset. And then we'll all feel guilty.
   463. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:12 PM (#2028262)
BLOW DUCA!

Pinch run with Endichiro!

Say what you will, but he's had a LOT of bigtime hits this year.

Earn your money, Mr. Semi-Bust.

I know, TA. I actually think it's kind of cute.
   472. tfbg9 Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:14 PM (#2028273)
You suck Beltran. Rivera K's nobody these days.
   473. Bob Koo Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:14 PM (#2028274)
Interesting. Delgado has good numbers against Rivera. Let's go Wright!!!
   474. good_ol_gil Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:15 PM (#2028276)
Well, another chance to Wright to prove that he is in fact clutch.
   475. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:15 PM (#2028277)

Let's go David!
   477. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:15 PM (#2028280)
Time for a defining moment, David!
   478. Rickroll the Mets (OFF) Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:15 PM (#2028281)
Mariano is scared of Delgado? Make'em pay David. Make him pay.

If Damon's arm were a little less feeble, who knows, maybe he can ge to that fly ball, because he's starting out 10 feet deeper.
   500. AJM Posted: May 19, 2006 at 10:20 PM (#2028306)
I can't believe they won this game. I wasn't expecting it, especially after the top of the first.
