Off to make another bet...
Clutchest hit by Wright in his career? Gotta be, no?
Um, the Mets are in first by three games. How about season maintaining win.
They? Hmm..no. The offense and the bullpen have managed to win 2 out of the five games they have started.
Yeah, and they've lost seven of their last 10 - looking pretty bad doing it.
It was carried on two local stations in NY only. Not on YES or SNY.
kevin has done many douche-like things on here.
Rooting against the Yankees is not one of them.
I was going to put it towards the next Randy start...
I JUST walked back into my hotel room. How long ago did Wright do it? I can't believe I missed it. But hell -- if it happened, that's the important thing.
Wright got a GW, walk-off, two-out, hit off Rivera.
Good lord, I think I just spent myself. And I'm hoping to get lucky tonight. Damn.
30 pints of bitter? And maybe a sandwich.
30 pints of bitter? And maybe a sandwich.
AARON F. HEILMAN. 3 Frigging perfect innings. Wow.
And the Mets played longball on the Randy "Even Matsui Dialed Long Distance Once to Unit His Sorry Ass When He Could Actually Pitch" Johnson. I'm sure if I read through the chatter the Yankee fans were DELIGHTED with that performance, up to and including Matsui tying the game back up (once again) in the 5th. Unreal.
Basically, it looks like Wright was in the middle of every rally except the first inning. That's my prodigy!
1. Mets get down four in the first.
2. Reyes walks to lead off the first. Beltran homers after a LoDuca hit to get us back in the game.
3. Gonzalez keeps sucking. Mets fall down 2.
4. XXX hits a 2 run bomb after a Wright two-out hit.
5. Randolph ##### up. Yankees score again.
6. Matsui gets a hit. Somehow. It scores Wright again. Tied game.
7. Aaron (forgetting) Heilman.
8. Reyes CS
9. Wagner strikes out the side.
10. Dookie with another clutch hit.
11. Wright's watermark moment.
Without telling you what I did, what should I have done?
Wrote a rap.
Seriously, though. Drunkeness is a major turnoff for me.
I always back out of that situation, because I AM A ####### DUMBASS. But it gives me a feeling of moral superiority which I then use when I feel like looking down on people.
Basically, I'm saying you win either way, Sam.
Being turned off was NOT the issue, believe me.
This is a better idea though. Make sure to praise Jesus somewhere in it too.
Going to bed with someone who is very drunk is always a disappointment.
Consult 1 Corinthians 7.
Nah. You're not a dumbass. That's what I did, too. I'm hoping he won't be quite so drunk later tonight, and that he'll still be equally interested when he's more sober. If I close my eyes, I might even be able to imagine he looks a bit like David Wright.
Actually, come to think about it, he DOES look a little like . . . hmmmmm. Maybe I DID do the wrong thing last night . . . . Rats.
I have not paid for a beer in ages. I just put some cash on the A's.
Sam M, I would take her up stairs and put her to sleep. Sleeping with drunk women is about as painfull as watching Matt Clement pitch
1. Is "she" a total stranger? Or do you know "her"/going to see "her" again?
2. Is "she" a sensitive person (someone who might be affected by a one-night stand) or "she" a total slut?
If "she's" a total stranger and slutty, I would have done "her." If not, probably not.
I am assuming you did NOT follow through on your desires, since you are now here debating the merits of your decision.
If you had gone upstairs with this person, you would already have gotten your answer.
Great day. And with that, I'm out to get some newcastles. Have a good one, guys.
It never hurts to be perspicacious.
This is a good point. The best way to learn is to do.
But either way, no regrets. Unless it really was David Wright. In which case, COME ON. A good percentage the Met fans in here would sleep with him, even if he was drunk, high, and hadn't slept in three weeks.
YOU CAN LIE ALL YOU WANT FELLOW MET FANS, BUT I KNOW IT'S TRUE
Ya-hoo!!!!! That'll certainly put the "+" in the "A" day for the Mets. The question, of course, is what's next. We know for sure it's not Bannister. I wonder if it might be that having Heilman go three innings tonight was the first step in stretching him out??? And bring someone up to move into the bullpen? Just thinking out load here.
I didn't want to go to jail for kidnapping, really. But I wasn't gonna let this continue another day.
But I think you made a wise choice. I guess the little angel in your head was whispering in your ear "Watch yourself now! All is not as it seems!"
Possible, but Heilman had only thrown 18 pitches threw the first two innings and his spot didn't come up. I'd say that factored into him staying in the game more than him being stretched out.
The real question, though, would be what David Wright was doing -- on the eve of the Yankee-Met series, in particular, but really at all -- at an all-male, clothing optional, resort hotel in Fort Lauderdale.
Not that I'd be objecting, mind you. But it would be one hell of a question!
I don't get it. The term dirty deed implies some type of morality within the choice, which is not apparent to me at all.
Sam, here's a horse. Would you like to check its teeth?
Somebody get this guy laid. Pronto.
He didn't suck. Much of that bloated ERA came towards the back end of the season when he got hurt and also mysteriously disappeared for a while. And his role kept being see-sawed during the year.
Staying there while attending to family business? Man, you're a multi-tasker.
I suppose it would keep one balanced though, so to speak.
There is a moral dimension to me. The voluntariness of his actions in coming on to me was questionable (induced by outside influence). Granted, he had voluntarily gotten drunk earlier, but that didn't make the subsequent decision independently voluntary. It just explained it. I don't want to take advantage of actions another person is taking -- even if I wasn't the agent who induced them -- that aren't of his own genuine free will.
I ain't that hard up. Close, but not quite.
Perhaps the inebriated allowed for expression of internal desires. Hey, drunken sex can be very erotic and enjoyable.
Of course, the details can bring up a moral dimension. But that's assuming that such an act is against the other person's true will. If so, then yes, I think it's not a good idea to sleep with him. But emotion, desire, and attraction are transient states, and it's not always the best idea to assume you know what the other person is thinking.
That is part of the plan. Stay tuned.
Staying there while attending to family business? Man, you're a multi-tasker.
I suppose it would keep one balanced though,
You bet. I deal with family during the day, and come back here to restore what remains of my sanity later on. It is my only salvation, believe me. Recharge for the next day's fun & games.
Definitely, but can't that be reversed? If you don't know for certain that the person is acting out of their own true will, then maybe it is better to not to sleep with them.
But to each their own. Unless you're famous. Then you never sleep with anyone unless you can vanish them afterwards. That's what pop-culture has taught me.
it's not always the best idea to assume you know what the other person is thinking.
True. But I didn't have to assume anything. In fact, I know pretty definitively what he was thinking. There was ample clarity on that point. What I didn't know was the genuine source of those thoughts. And I avoided an assumption about that -- I avoided assuming they were the same thoughts he would have had sober. By remaining agnostic on that question, I think I respected both of us better than I would have had I assumed anything.
Good luck!!!
It sounded to me like Sam's case was a choice of aquiescing to carnal desires, not the development of a mature relationship. Fulfilling carnal desires are important and healthy on occasion, IMHO. Even some of the great intellectuals and great leaders were carnal at times underneath the public scope.
That's sort of the aspect which interests me. I don't profess to know this absolutely, but I think it's always hard to tell what the other's "genuine" motivations are. But there's nothing wrong with deciding not to sleep with him, so I see your point.
PARTY!
When did "Anderson" become a widely-used first name?
Anderson Garcia: 31.1 IP (AA/AAA), 24 K, 8 BB, 1 HR, 26 H, 1.44 ERA.
It was too soon to call Bell back up, ofcourse, and Fortunato is injured. Henry Owens has a minor injury now as well. So, I guess the Mets have to go pretty deep to get the extra reliever for a few days.
So, who's the starter (my odds):
a) Evan MacLane (15%)
b) Alay Soler (15%)
c) Mike Pelfrey (10%)
d) Aaron Heilman (25%)
e) Daren Oliver (30%)
f) other (5%)
Bell has gotten a fair shot with the Mets. He pitched 50 innings last year and sucked.
Giving up on a reliever because of one bad year is utterly stupid. Especially when he was good in his initial (albeit abbreviated) debut.
I KNEW I'd seen his name somewhere before.
I agree with J. Cross in thinking that Oliver has the edge here. Which before Lima time would have pissed me off. Now it doesn't bother me. I've seen hell. Bring it on, Oliver.
Oliver: 93
Lima: 85
So, Lima has been twice as far below average over his career. Oliver's HR rate this year (and in 2004, the last year he pitched) is frightening. I think he's better than Lima but I still don't think he's a good option. Maclane is also a bit better than Lima but doens't look like he's ready. Really, Heilman's the only guy on that list who the Mets could reasonably expect to pitch WELL. That's why he gets the 25%.
