Tonight's lineup brought to you by A Monkey Throwing Darts®.

It'd be nice if they didn't have a defensive replacement making outs in front of the guys who can sort of hit, killing rallies before they have any chance to begin.

But Rajai's fast! And black!

Like Rickey Henderson!
   5. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 07:56 PM (#2844848)
Throw strikes, dammit.
   6. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 07:58 PM (#2844851)
I hate it when pitchers get all walky. It's less annoying when they just get hit.
   7. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:02 PM (#2844859)
Lucky to get out of that.
   8. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:02 PM (#2844860)
*deep heaving sigh*

It's nice having a lefty popup machine around. Seems like old times.

Nice play by Dye. Hit from Cust would be nice, but he'll be walked instead. Ellis will get it done.
   10. Paul Bunyan in technicolor (Justin T) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:13 PM (#2844889)
Ah well, I like Cust swinging at a fastball on 3-0 even if it didn't work out.
   11. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:13 PM (#2844888)
mlb.tv keeps making long fly outs look a lot better off the bat.
   12. Paul Bunyan in technicolor (Justin T) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:14 PM (#2844890)
I don't see how mlb.tv could make that happen. It's just TV on the computer. Never experienced the long fly out appearing to be hit harder on mlb.tv phenomenon in all my use of it.

I just mean the quality of the picture. You can't really tell as easily how well the ball's been hit off the bat because it's a small, fuzzy picture box.
   15. Paul Bunyan in technicolor (Justin T) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:18 PM (#2844901)
I think Greg Smith's name in the lineup card should be "Pickin' Off Machine" btw.
   16. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:20 PM (#2844906)
I can only hope Smith and Eveland become Rogers and Wells.
   17. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:21 PM (#2844908)
Seems possible enough.
   18. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:28 PM (#2844913)
Bankston didn't have great numbers in AAA, but he's looked pretty good so far. Once upon a time with Tampa he was pretty well-regarded as a prospect, right? Or was that like Jason Pridie or someone?
   19. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:33 PM (#2844917)
I think he was seen as a comer back in '04-05, but has struggled since he reached AA.
   20. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:35 PM (#2844920)
The lesson: make sure your liners to short are higher.
   21. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:36 PM (#2844923)
Feh.
   22. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:37 PM (#2844925)
That's like giving up a home run to Emil Brown. If Emil Brown could cover center.
   23. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:37 PM (#2844926)
Is it sad that I think it's asking a bit much of this offense to overcome a 3-0 deficit in the fifth inning?
   24. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:38 PM (#2844927)
It's sad because it's true.
   25. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:46 PM (#2844940)
Drop down a bunt, Raj. Maybe they'll throw it away.
   26. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:47 PM (#2844945)
Fast guys who can't hit should bunt a lot more often than they do.
   27. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:51 PM (#2844948)
Word.
   28. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:57 PM (#2844960)
It's a complete waste of Chadwick's awesome superhero-ness when he comes in trailing by three.
   29. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 08:58 PM (#2844967)
The perplexing, continuing marginalization of Chad Gaudin.
   30. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 09:17 PM (#2845010)
Really? Gaudin out already?

For Christ's sake, Geren, the man's a starting pitcher. If he's gonna rot in the bullpen at least let him work a couple innings.
   31. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2845021)
I find it bizarre that Calero expressed willingness to accept a minor league assignment, then refused the assignment when he cleared waivers, then signed a minor league contract with Texas.
   32. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2845022)
To think, we actually got something useful for Jason Kendall.
   33. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 09:32 PM (#2845054)
Rajai Davis sure can't hit.
   34. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2845096)
Hey, things just got a little bit less disgraceful.
   35. jonathan (Joseph HannaCust) Posted: July 05, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2845100)
Take that, shutout.
   36. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: July 05, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2845106)
At least the Blue Jays are doing their part.
