It's a crime that Castro only got one start out of four at the bandbox in Cincy. But at least he'll get two starts in this series.
   102. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 08:49 PM (#2868567)
Five homers in 85 at-bats. Hot damn.
   103. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 22, 2008 at 08:49 PM (#2868568)
How many guys have done that and not made it?

Palmeiro.
   104. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2868569)
Hey, #### you Blanton.
   105. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 08:51 PM (#2868571)
OK, is it me, or are the letters on Blanton's uniform a little more spaced out than everyone else?
   106. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 22, 2008 at 08:51 PM (#2868572)
If memory serves, every HR Castro has hit came in a game the Mets eventually won.
   107. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 08:52 PM (#2868575)
That's a big "let's say." If he does that, sure.

If he does that, is he a shoe-in? He's going to approach 1500 RBI and 460 HR by the end of the year and he's only 36. He might not hit 550 homers but he could hit 525 and he'll probably get to 1700 RBI. Those are some impressive coutning stats.

No. 2-2.

Palmeiro.

Yeah, but there's a PED stench around him. He;d be in for sure if not for that.
   110. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2868578)
I still think 525 is a long shot. I think even 500 is unlikely.
   111. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 22, 2008 at 08:54 PM (#2868580)
Yeah, but there's a PED stench around him. He;d be in for sure if not for that.

Wasn't there some concern about putting him in before all that? And he had 3000 hits too.
   112. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 08:55 PM (#2868582)
I still think 525 is a long shot. I think even 500 is unlikely.

Really? He's on pace for 31 for the season. Last year when he was medicore, he hit 24. He'd only be 40 away from 500 at the end of the year.
   113. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 08:55 PM (#2868583)
Nice line for Marlins starter Rick Vandenhurk tonight: 5 IP, 0 H, 5 BB, 7 K, 92 pitches.
   114. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:00 PM (#2868589)
Victorino is annoying.
   115. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:01 PM (#2868590)
Stop messing around, Johan.
   116. Hysterical & Useless Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:02 PM (#2868591)
Carlos doesn't have a lot of black ink, only 2 top 5 MVP finishes, 2 all star games....but he's over 100 on the HOF monitor, and he does have a good shot at some impressive career totals, if he can avoid the hand/wrist injuries which have led a lot of people to call him through for the last couple of years
   117. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:03 PM (#2868592)
Ring him up!
   118. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:04 PM (#2868593)
He's gonna need a real quick eighth to go for the complete game.
   119. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:06 PM (#2868596)
Delgado's has a .900+ OPS against righties this season and he's not exactly hitting in a hitter's haven. I still think he has 3 or 4 years left in him if he wants.
   120. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:08 PM (#2868602)
Go Endy, go!
   121. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:08 PM (#2868603)
I thought he had three.
   122. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:09 PM (#2868605)
I think Endy didn't want to get thrown out again.
   123. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:09 PM (#2868607)
Endy should have been at third.
   124. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2868608)
I think Endy didn't want to get thrown out again.

Yeah.
   125. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2868610)
Or not.
   126. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2868611)
Stop sending Endy with none out!
   127. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:11 PM (#2868612)
That one was an absolutely awful send. Endy had to hold up to make sure that dropped in, giving him no shot of being safe.
   128. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2868616)
This awful was even worse than the last one. At least on the last one, you could aruge that they need to make multiple good plays.
   129. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2868618)
They had better win this game or I'll have nightmares about Endy's blunders.
   130. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2868621)
How about a clutch hit here, Damion.
   131. Hysterical & Useless Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2868623)
Unless Endy ran through a stop sign the fault lies with the 3rd base coach
   132. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:17 PM (#2868624)
Unless Endy ran through a stop sign

He didn't.
   133. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2868627)
Endy should have been at third though.
   134. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:19 PM (#2868629)
Bases loaded? Inning over.

But at least Marlon is getting pinch hit for.
   135. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:19 PM (#2868631)
Gotta PH for Anderson.
   136. Srul Itza Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2868635)
So what's the record for number of times a player has been thrown out at home in one game?
   137. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2868636)
####### Utley.
   138. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2868638)
That Chase Utley is a damn fine baseball player.
   139. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2868639)
This team just doesn't hit with the bases loaded.
   140. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2868642)
This team just doesn't hit with the bases loaded.

It is ridiculous, isn't it?
   141. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:24 PM (#2868643)
Is Wags avaiable tonight?
   142. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2868650)
Delgado should have caught that.
   143. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:28 PM (#2868651)
Aw ####. Delgado should have caught that.
   144. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:29 PM (#2868652)
That was a foul.
   145. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:29 PM (#2868653)
Damn. He gets that out and he has a complete game.
   146. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2868656)
Let him start the ninth!
   147. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2868657)
Delgado could have made this a lot less exciting.
   148. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2868658)
I think I let him go back out there for the ninth.
   149. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:32 PM (#2868660)
Howard just missed that one.

Not a dominant outing, but a very good one.
   150. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:32 PM (#2868661)
75 strikes, 30 balls. Wow.
   151. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:32 PM (#2868663)
Let him start the ninth!

No need and his spot is coming up.
   152. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2868667)
Not a dominant outing, but a very good one.

A microcosm of his season.

Do you guys think Manuel will give more playing time against righties?
   153. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2868669)
Big time outing from Johan.
   154. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:35 PM (#2868672)
Time for some Argenis Magic.
   155. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:39 PM (#2868679)
Come on, Dirty.

Take my hand
We're off to never never land
   157. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2868690)
I guess Wagner isn't available. Smith and Pedro II warming up.
   158. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2868691)
Beltran playing somewhere in New Jersey.
   159. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2868693)
This isn't going to be easy.
   160. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2868698)
Its never easy, Russlan. 2006 spoiled me rotten.
   161. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2868699)
Dobbs has killed the Mets.
   162. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2868701)
#### me.
   163. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2868702)
So, no need to leave in Santana?
   164. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2868703)
Uh oh.
   165. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2868704)
So, anyone doubting Wagner's value now?
   166. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2868707)
Those Endy mistakes look awfully big now.
   167. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2868708)
If he doesn't get Shane, Dirty comes out.
   168. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2868713)
Take him out now.
   169. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2868715)
See, with no outs you hold the man at third.
   170. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2868716)
I'd bring in Smith here.
   171. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2868717)
Cripes. Bring in Feliciano.
   172. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2868718)
Come on, Joseph. A ground ball.
   173. Srul Itza Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2868719)
Sort of a microcosm of last year, all in one game.
   174. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2868721)
Utley is looming large on the horizon.
   175. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2868722)
Hmmm, actually Joe Smith here, because Jenkins won't pinch hit for Ruiz. They will wait until the pitcher spot.
   176. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2868723)
Ruiz has to hit, though. Coste was already used. And I don't know if Jenkins is even available. That leaves just Taguchi.
   177. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2868728)
A DP would be huge here.
   178. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2868730)
WHAT THE #### REYES?
   179. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2868732)
I can't take this.
   180. will Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2868733)
How about THAT.
   181. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2868734)
Jeter never makes that mistake.
   182. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2868735)
My head hurts.
   183. Dan Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2868736)
Wow.
   184. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2868737)
Game over, man.
   185. You can't lose with Randy Winn, says Flynn Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2868738)
AGGGGHHHH!!!!
   186. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2868739)
No ############# way. This is absurd.
   187. Srul Itza Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2868740)
Does anyone here seriously think the Mets are going to win this game?
   188. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2868742)
That means Utley is going to hit.
   189. Bob Koo Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2868743)
I would leave Smith in here. Bruntlett will probably PH here.
   190. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2868744)
OK, I like Taguchi on Feliciano.
   191. Dan Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:55 PM (#2868747)
Taguchi now vs Feliciano I assume?
   192. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2868751)
Jenkins is available and hitting here.
   193. Srul Itza Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2868752)
It's a shame this game is in Shea. A walk off by Philly would be far less painful than having to watch the Mets bat in the bottom of the ninth.
   194. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2868754)
Does anyone here seriously think the Mets are going to win this game?

Yes. I do.
   195. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2868755)
105 pitches for Santana. It's pure second-guessing, but I still would have let him start the ninth. If you know Wagner is not available, it's worth the shot sending him back out there.
   196. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2868756)
The Met bullpen is spooked by the Phils.
   197. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2868758)
Coehn with the jinx.
   198. Chris Dial Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2868760)
105 pitches for Santana. It's pure second-guessing, but I still would have let him start the ninth. If you know Wagner is not available, it's worth the shot sending him back out there.
This was the easy decision.
   199. Chris Dial Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:58 PM (#2868762)
I'm surprised Feliciano hasn't hit him with a pitch yet.
   200. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 09:58 PM (#2868764)
So Taguchi is the only Phillie phielder with a BA lower than Carlos Ruiz'.
