I'm surprised Feliciano hasn't hit him with a pitch yet.

That's Show's specialty.

Just a brain-dump from Reyes. Not unlike Wright last year.

We should still win, but this horseshit is completely unnecessary.

Beltran should have caught Werth's ball, but I'm sure he figured the lead was safe.

   223. Bob Koo Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:02 PM (#2868795)
Feliciano has been terrible against righties the whole year, while Smith has been getting lefties out lately. It was an awful move. Manuel has been making some poor moves of late.

   227. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:02 PM (#2868802)
A J-Roll batting .269 is bad, bad J-Roll. I heard Larry Anderson call him Silky on the air once, by the way. Much better nickname, that.
   228. Chris Dial Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:03 PM (#2868803)
Also, Reyes ###### this inning up by not flipping the ball, and then not throwing it to first. WTF was that?
   229. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2868807)
It would be nice if that eighth run didn't score.

#### YOU, FELICIANO.
   231. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2868810)
The team to beat,still.

7 wins to 4, if Lidge doesn't implode. He's way past due.

Feliciano is a terrible fielder.
   232. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2868811)
Howard totally sucks, watch him strikeout here.
   233. Bob Koo Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2868813)
You use Feliciano and SS only against the lefties in tight games. You don't use them otherwise.
   234. Chris Dial Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2868812)
If Reyes flips the ball to Easley we get a DP, and then Endy catches Taguchi's ball because he isn't palying in to cutoff the second run.

Just bad fundamentals.
   235. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:05 PM (#2868815)
Four pitchers. This bullpen ####### blows.

You are hilarious, will. You only show up when the Phils do something good.
   239. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:05 PM (#2868821)
Santana's gonna kill someone.
   240. Bob Koo Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:06 PM (#2868822)
Dial, I just watched the replay. A flip to 2nd wouldn't have gotten Victorino. But of course, Reyes has to get the out at first.
   241. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:06 PM (#2868824)
Honestly, Manuel should have put Argenis at second.
   242. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:07 PM (#2868827)
Yeah, Reyes had no chance at Victorino, period. He just needed to throw it to first.
   243. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:07 PM (#2868828)
Jesus, Heilman? Don't they want this inning to end?
   244. Dan Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:07 PM (#2868829)
Honestly, Manuel should have put Argenis at second.

I was kind of surprised he didn't. I don't watch a lot of Mets games, but it seemed liek a no-brainer after he hit in the 8th to leave him at 2nd base. I assume he's a much better glove than Easley.
   245. Bob Koo Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:08 PM (#2868831)
It's too bad. Sanchez was pitching great, and you figure he was going to cruise in the 9th.
   246. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:09 PM (#2868832)
CALL SOME STRIKES.

Hey, who filled in for Harry?
   251. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2868845)
The Met bullpen has been pretty good other than against the Phils. It's weird how much they struggle against them.
   252. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2868844)
Hit this ############. Let's go.
   253. Chris Dial Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2868847)
Well, if Beltran catches Werth's liner, this is different. a 6-run 9th. How pathetic.
   254. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2868848)
Hey, who filled in for Harry?

It's just been McCarthy all the way, who's been his normal bubbly self.
   255. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:13 PM (#2868849)
The Mets will now score two because they are a ####### tease.
   256. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:13 PM (#2868852)
Endy, you owe us a double here.
   257. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:13 PM (#2868853)
You know, this is the second game in a row in which Endy has made a mistake in the field.
   258. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:14 PM (#2868861)
It's just been McCarthy all the way

I liked him, glad to get back. I don't get the way they use him, though.
   259. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:14 PM (#2868863)

Yeah Endy!

I liked him, glad to get back. I don't get the way they use him, though.

Well, they have four announcers for TV. It makes no sense at all. Sarge is an idiot.
   262. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:16 PM (#2868871)
They're all waiting for Harry to hang it up.
   263. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:17 PM (#2868873)
When I heard he had a detached retna, I thought, "Oh, that's why he thinks all of those pop outs are home runs."
   264. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:17 PM (#2868874)
Overmatched. NEXT.
   265. Bob Koo Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:17 PM (#2868875)
I really blame Manuel. Using Feliciano against the 9th spot and Rollins was a terrible decision. Pedro II was the 3rd worst option available (behind Smith and Heilman).
   266. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:19 PM (#2868879)
Harry was really bad a couple of years ago. Now he's just a bit confused.
   267. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:19 PM (#2868881)
I don't know. Your choices are Smith vs. Jenkins (who's been OK recently) or Feliciano vs. Taguchi (who was 0-for-16 pinch hitting). That's hard to fault Manuel, guys.
   268. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:20 PM (#2868884)
Yeah, pitching to Taguchi is never a mistake, As a Phils fan, I thought the game was done right there.
   269. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:21 PM (#2868886)
The Mets needed a DP ball from Ruiz in the ninth. Once they didn't get that, it was inevitable.
   270. Bob Koo Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:21 PM (#2868888)
Feliciano's been a punching bag against righties (.900 OPS against). Last year he was good vs. righties, but this year he's been Schoeneweis-lite.
   271. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:22 PM (#2868890)
Delgado has no chance here.
   272. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:22 PM (#2868893)
" C. Beltran grounded out to first, E. Chavez scored"

Huh?

Worst loss in a long time.
   276. Joshemy Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:23 PM (#2868897)
Chavez had moved to third on a wild pitch.

Well, that was a ####### blast.
   277. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:24 PM (#2868898)
And now Myers will kill them tomorrow night. #### this.
   278. Srul Itza Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:24 PM (#2868899)
You know, this is the second game in a row in which Endy has made a mistake in the field.

I thought his major contribution was getting thrown out at home.

Twice.

Are you referring to Brett Myers? If so, I see no basis for that assertion.

Just like a six-run ninth?

Please knock down Shea early... like, tonight.

One game back with 62 left. We would have taken that a couple weeks ago.
   288. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:28 PM (#2868918)
Any other Phils fans been clamoring for the Utley--Burrell-Howard 2-3-4? I hope Chollie keeps it around for a bit. It would be better if Silky and Utley got more than one hit, though.
   289. haplo53 Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:28 PM (#2868919)
Devastating loss? This game? After last year? Surely you jest.

It was easily as surreal and gut-wrenching as the 11-10 game in Philly last year. Easily.

Well, until you remember that they're the Mets, and this stuff happens to them.
   290. Tom D Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:29 PM (#2868921)
Jerry Manual = Herm Edwards. You play to play by the formula.

Well, until you remember that they're the Mets, and this stuff happens to them.

It could be worse, you know. You could be Phillies fan.

You know what? It's not the end of the world.

Not if they get to the precipice of first place again. Whether they do that is another matter entirely.
   293. haplo53 Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:31 PM (#2868930)

I dunno, you guys get to win AND wallow in self-pity. Pretty sweet if you ask me.

No doubt. It was a poor attempt on my part to deflect the pain with sarcasm.

Nice.
   296. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2868939)
One thing I want to say right now. Manuel et al. should probably push their starters as deep as possible against the Phillies. There's something mental with the Met bullpen against the Phils.
   297. haplo53 Posted: July 22, 2008 at 10:39 PM (#2868954)
There's something mental with the Met bullpen against the Phils.

Yup. I agree completely.

This might have been the most shameful collective bullpen performance since Opening Day 1997. I was expecting Toby Borland to walk through that door.
