I think it is retarded to criticize anyone for celebrating. It's not war, it's a game.

Or in other words, Why so serious?
   202. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2870393)
BTW, Chipper Jones is screwing the Mets. He gets hurt right before the Phils play the Braves. Thanks for that.
   203. salfino Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:11 PM (#2870394)
The Mets could use a hellacious rain storm to end the game early right about now.
   204. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:11 PM (#2870395)
Boy that Myers was sure burning 'em up tonight.

Worried about the bullpen, eh?
   206. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:12 PM (#2870397)
Maine's bounced back quite nicely in this outing.
   207. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2870399)
So Taguchi is a jerk.
   208. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2870401)
Make Rollins hit, Maine.
   209. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2870404)
And Marlon Anderson swings at the first pitch.
   210. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2870405)
You know who sucks? Marlon Anderson.
   211. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2870406)
When does Nixon get back? Anyone but Marlon.
   212. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:19 PM (#2870409)
Nixon had hernia surgery. He's dead.
   213. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2870411)
Nixon is done for the season. I don't agree with using Maine in the 8th although the way the bullpen pitches against the Phils, I wouldn't blame anyone.
   214. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:21 PM (#2870412)
If we give up anything more than a bucket of baseballs for Nixon, I'll be angry. Maybe we can send Marlon to the Dbacks.
   215. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2870415)

Straight cash, homey.
   216. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2870416)
No way, Russlan. Manuel with right move here, SS for Utley and if he appears effective, for Howard as well.
   217. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2870417)
Schneider!
   218. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2870418)
Let's go Tatis.
   219. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2870419)
Another two-runs would be very nice.
   220. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:24 PM (#2870421)
PINCH HIT WITH CASTRO PLEASE.
   221. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:24 PM (#2870422)
Ugh, Tatis.

Do they pitch to Reyes?
   222. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:24 PM (#2870423)
You can't take out Endy. No way.
   223. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:25 PM (#2870424)
Reyes is racking up a lot of BBs.
   224. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:26 PM (#2870429)
That was a wasted opportunity. Maybe we should have challenged Dobbs to throw home.
   225. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:27 PM (#2870431)
Bases loaded failure.
   226. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:30 PM (#2870437)
Schoenweis!
   227. Chris Dial Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2870441)
Keep it up and in on the hands on Burrell, and SS can get him out. Keep it UP and IN though.
   228. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:32 PM (#2870443)
Just challenge him, SS.
   229. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:32 PM (#2870447)
Keeping Burrell in the yard is a victory for SS.
   230. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2870449)
SS couldn't get me out. I bat righthanded.
   231. Chris Dial Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2870450)
That's fine as long as you get Howard and Dobbs (although Feliz will ph)
   232. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:34 PM (#2870453)
I don't like it. With the bases empty, you challenge Burrell to hit it hard. The walk is a defeat.
   233. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:34 PM (#2870454)
If Feliz PH, Smith has to pitch.
   234. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:34 PM (#2870455)
Time to get Smith in. Completely agree.
   235. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:36 PM (#2870457)
I don't like it. With the bases empty, you challenge Burrell to hit it hard. The walk is a defeat.

99% of the time I agree. But not SS against Burrell.
   236. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:38 PM (#2870465)
I heart Joe Smith.
   237. Chris Dial Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:39 PM (#2870466)
Dear Jerry,
please leave Joe in until he needs to come out. TIA,
CTD
   238. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2870467)

Even if Wags is available?
   239. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2870469)
There's Wags.
   240. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2870471)
Let's score twice this inning to make it a moot point.
   241. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:42 PM (#2870473)
That's like the first time I've seen Feliz mishandle a play.
   242. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:43 PM (#2870475)
Go deep, Delgado.
   243. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2870478)
I'll take it, Carlos.

One more year! One more year!
   244. Chris Dial Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2870479)
Even if Wags is available?
Even if.
   245. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2870480)
Why the heck is Beltran bunting?
   246. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2870481)
Uh, Carlos?
   247. Chris Dial Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2870483)
Because he hsn't been feeling good swinging.
   248. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2870484)
WHY CANCEL? WHY?
   249. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2870485)
Why CANCEL over CASTRO?
   250. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2870486)
I swear to God I was just thinking about a Beltran bunt.
   251. Chris Dial Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2870488)
OTOH, bunting in front of the pitchers spot is moronic.

So is swinging at the first pitch. That's some shitty managing.
   252. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2870490)
This makes so sense to me.
   253. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2870491)
WHY WHY WHY
Someone in the front office is smoking weed. Why the infatuation with Cancel?
   254. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2870492)
Just put one in a ####### gap and end this already!
   255. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2870493)
I don't mind Beltran trying to bunt for hit every now and then.
   256. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2870498)
Cancel is there for one reason -- to let Castro pinch hit. But Manuel has failed miserably in that regard.
   257. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2870500)
No one can justify Cancel over Pascucci. Not a single darn reason, as Manuel doesn't even use Castro to pinch hit.
   258. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2870501)
Cancel is there for one reason -- to let Castro pinch hit. But Manuel has failed miserably in that regard.

Willie did the same thing. I don't get it at all.
   259. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2870504)
Bleep Beltran. Bleep Manuel for that wasted inning.
   260. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2870506)
I'll punch you in the face if you blow this, Billy.
   261. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2870509)
This team has 3 catchers, 3 second basemen, and 2 outfielders.
   262. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2870511)
This team has 3 catchers, 3 second basemen, and 2 outfielders.

This killed me for some reason. They do have Evans.
   263. Chris Dial Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:52 PM (#2870512)
10 hits, seven walks and an HBP and a ROE. 19 baserunners and just 6 runs. That sucks.
   264. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2870514)
And now, Billy can't throw strikes to the ####### speedy midget.
   265. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2870515)
I forgot about Evans. But still...
   266. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2870518)
That was close.
   267. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2870519)
If they're not going to use Evans, then let him play in AA.

Sit down, Victorino! ( I hate him so irrationally).
   268. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2870520)
One.
   269. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2870523)
Yeah, they gotta make a decision on Evans.
   270. Chris Dial Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2870524)
Bruntlett as a ph? Okay then.
   271. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2870527)
It's Carlos Ruiz. Our win probability is like 99.99999999%
   272. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:56 PM (#2870528)
Two.
   273. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2870529)
One more.
   274. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2870531)
Ballgame!
   275. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2870532)
Ballgame!
   276. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2870533)
Country Time! WOOOOT!
   277. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2870534)
Happy ############# recap.
   278. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2870536)
Wagner with the gas.
   279. Dan Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2870535)
Why the hell did he use Bruntlett instead of Werth?
   280. Joshemy Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2870537)
Happy Recap!
   281. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2870538)
Billy Wagner ain't too bad.
   282. Alan S Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2870539)
Woooooo! First place! Maybe last night wasn't the death of the 2008 Mets after all.
   283. haplo53 Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:58 PM (#2870540)
Great win.
   284. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2870541)
Clearly, Wagner is scared of me.

Wagner looked really good. Tomorrow, the Mets go after first place.

Why the hell did he use Bruntlett instead of Werth?

You need him to hit a homer if someone gets on.
   285. Raskolnikov Posted: July 23, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2870542)
We've outplayed the Phils for 2 games now. We have to win tomorrow, and I'm fairly confident that we will.

Solid job by Maine. Jose with the hammer.
   286. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: July 23, 2008 at 10:00 PM (#2870547)
Tomorrow will be a tough one, but at least there will be no sweep.

And that's all I want. That's all I want.
