I gave you a break on the first two, Luis. On this one?

SWING THE DAMN BAT!!!!
   102. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:06 PM (#2930706)
Luis Castillo should never play again.
   103. Metman died today. Or yesterday maybe, Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2930707)
The Phils pen has lost it. If Myers comes out, we'll win.

Yeah, OK. The Mets arent sniffing home plate tonight.
   104. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:07 PM (#2930709)
Well, at least with the lefties going we won't have to look at Castillo's ugly mug again.
   105. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2930713)
Parnell warming up. Excellent.
   106. Chris Dial Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:10 PM (#2930714)
Myers is coming out for the 8th at 107 pitches. Schneider *really* needs to take.
   107. haplo53 Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2930722)
Mets are going to need yet another epic bounceback game this weekend. If they get swept, I feel pretty comfortable saying they're not going to win the division.
   108. Sam M. Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2930723)
Stokes has really been something, no?
   109. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:13 PM (#2930724)
Yeah, Schneider needs to take a bat to Myers' knees.
   110. Chris Dial Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:15 PM (#2930727)

I hate listening to that crap. Be a goddamned fan.

Stokes has really been something, no?

Yeah.
   112. Sam M. Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2930729)
Every indication is that tomorrow could get rained out, right? Day/night DH on Sunday?
   113. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2930730)
C'mon Mets. At least give me the illusion of effort.

Every indication is that tomorrow could get rained out, right? Day/night DH on Sunday?

That's what seems like the most likely scenario to me.
   115. Sam M. Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:17 PM (#2930734)
You can count on one finger the player whom Howard can beat to the bag on a grounder.

Schneider.

Sigh.
   116. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:17 PM (#2930737)
WHY MARLON ANDERSON?
   117. Sam M. Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2930739)
Nice patience, Marlon. What a waste of a roster spot. Even with expanded rosters.
   118. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:19 PM (#2930740)
Just keep smiling, Jose. You ####### assface.
   119. haplo53 Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2930745)
I hate listening to that crap.

Then don't.

Be a goddamned fan.

What do you care?
   120. Sam M. Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:25 PM (#2930751)
Nice play, Ryan, but I'd rather throw that one back . . . in return for the one that got away.
   121. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:26 PM (#2930754)
Has Rincon thrown a FB yet?
   122. Sam M. Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:27 PM (#2930757)
No, and I suspect that he never will as long as ol' # 73 is around.
   123. haplo53 Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:30 PM (#2930765)
Lidge is gonna blow one at some point... now would be a good time...
   124. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2930768)
Ricardo Rincon's triumphant return to the majors.
   125. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2930770)
Now would be an awesome time. Except Lidge isn't a tiring Curt Schilling and John Olerud is long gone.
   126. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:36 PM (#2930778)
3-2 to Murphy is just redundant.
   127. haplo53 Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:37 PM (#2930780)
I like Murphy a lot.
   128. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:37 PM (#2930781)
I know he made an out but that was an excellent plate appearance.
   129. will Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:37 PM (#2930783)
Murphy is a pretty good hitter, I'm beginning to understand.
   130. Dan Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2930791)
The Orioles have allowed 11 runs to Oakland. Yikes.
   131. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2930792)
Well, this is pretty much all you could ask for in this situation.
   132. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2930793)
LET'S GO.
   133. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2930794)
Well, this is all you could ask for. Beltran and Church with chances to tie this game.
   134. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:42 PM (#2930797)
The Orioles have allowed 11 runs to Oakland.

And we care why? It's kind of a tense game here.
   135. Dan Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:43 PM (#2930798)
Yeah, that was a post in the wrong window.
   136. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2930800)
Ball four. ####.
   137. haplo53 Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2930801)
Blecch.
   138. will Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2930806)
Phils live to fight another day !
   139. haplo53 Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2930807)
Blecch. Again.
   140. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2930809)
I applaud the effort against Lidge. Makes me feel a bit better.
   141. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:47 PM (#2930811)
This isn't good. Pedro has been inconsistent this year and the Phils have hit him well and a Hamels-Santana matchup is a tossup.
   142. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2930812)
This isn't good.

No kidding. A rainout tomorrow would help enormously.
   143. Dan Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:48 PM (#2930814)
Myers has been otherworldly since they sent him to the minors. His numbers are back to around his career average after his ERA was what, almost 6?
   144. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2930815)
The rainout doesn't help. They are just going to have a day-night double header if that happens.
   145. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2930817)
Myers has been otherworldly since they sent him to the minors.

Myers was unlucky with the dingers early in the season, so he was due for a correction.

But his houdini act with RISP isn't going to continue... just like Lidge is going to blow a save before the year is through.
   146. haplo53 Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2930819)
The rainout doesn't help.

It might help them relax a bit.
   147. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 05, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2930825)
The rainout doesn't help.

If the Mets can't split a doubleheader, they deserve whatever fate befalls them. I don't care if prime-Bunning and prime-Carlton are pitching.
