The bullpen has yet to allow a run in September.
   302. Joshemy Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2932563)
A little pop from Damion.
   303. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2932564)
Useful!
   304. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2932565)
EASLEY DOES IT!
   305. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2932566)
Easley with the triple. And you guys were complaining about him...tsk tsk.
   306. Sam M. Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2932567)
there is no way he'll accept the contract the Phillies will be willing to offer him- something like 2 years at $10MM per/year.

Are you serious? That's all they'd offer? That's pretty lame. I'm not saying he's worth 6/$90M or anything, but 4/$20M is pretty insulting, and way below his value.

EASLEY SHUTS MY ASS UP!!!

Now get him in, boys.
   307. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2932568)
Marlon Anderson!?!? Are you ####### kidding me? Please no.
   308. Joshemy Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2932569)
Very well done Brian.
   309. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2932570)
Victorino has robbed the Mets of a lot of hits playing shallow. This time he got burned.
   310. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2932571)
Insurance run!

Oh goody, Marlon.
   311. Sam M. Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:46 PM (#2932572)
Great job by Schneider. Deliver the Olney, get the 4-run lead.
   312. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:46 PM (#2932573)
Remember when Randolph would use Anderson at 1b/LF? Good times.
   313. Joshemy Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:47 PM (#2932574)
Marlon is terrible.

205/279/333 September 2007 - Reyes.
188/278/375 September 2008 - Reyes.

That young man needs a good mentor/coach to help him stay relaxed and focused on the right things as he tries to help his team.

188/278/375 September 2008 - Reyes.

It's only September 7th.* Give him time.

Reyes is 0 for 5 tonight. Repeat comment 314.
   317. will Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2932578)
To #306- Sam, not 4/$20 MM for Pat, but rather 2/$20 MM (which he won't accept). The Phillies have a whole bunch of guys who will be arbitration-eligible : Howard (again), Hamels,Victorino,Dobbs, Madsen,Werth and several others. They stick to a budget of $100 MM , and they'll take the 14MM they paid Pat this year, and re-allocate.Werth and Victorino will lay full time, and they'll look for a new LF.
   318. Sam M. Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:52 PM (#2932579)
Sam, not 4/$20 MM for Pat, but rather 2/$20 MM (which he won't accept).

I know -- that was a typo on my part. I was astonished at 2/$20M, but I didn't think you were suggesting a $5M a year offer.

Why even bother to make an offer, if it's going to be that silly?
   319. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:52 PM (#2932580)
WTF was Schnider thinking!?!?
   320. Joshemy Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2932581)
Brian didn't have much of a play. He probably should have seen if it was going to roll foul.
   321. Sam M. Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2932582)
Oh, great. Is that how the meltdown begins this time? A dribbler and a throwing error? Sigh.
   322. Karl from NY Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2932583)
Oh god. Meltdown imminent. Reactor critical in 5.. 4.. 3...
   323. Sam M. Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2932584)
Much better. One hit, one out. We can win with that. Keep repeating and we'll be fine.
   324. Joshemy Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2932585)
You have to be ############# kidding me with this ####.
   325. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2932586)
Fantastic.
   326. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2932587)
Damn!
   327. Sam M. Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2932588)
Please tell me this is not happening.
   328. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2932589)
Enough with these horseshit hits.
   329. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:56 PM (#2932590)
Winning ain't easy!
   330. strong silence Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:56 PM (#2932591)
Gotta tell the truth - Adrian Beltre would have made that play.
   331. Joshemy Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2932592)
Endy makes me so much more comfortable.
   332. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2932593)
Thank goodness for Endy.
   333. Sam M. Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2932594)
My heart and blood pressure cannot take this. One more, Luis. One more. Don't bring the tying run to the plate, OK???
   334. Alan S Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2932595)
Endy in LF > Tatis in LF
   335. Dan Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2932596)
Is hitting for Coste really worth it when it means Andy Tracy bats for the pitcher instead of Stairs?
   336. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:58 PM (#2932597)
Don't let Utley hit this inning, Ayala.
   337. will Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:58 PM (#2932598)
Rollins hasn't swung first pitch all night
   338. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:58 PM (#2932599)
I dont want to see Utley up to bat.
   339. Sam M. Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:59 PM (#2932600)
If Utley does hit, Schoeneweis?
   340. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:59 PM (#2932601)
Ayala may not be any good, but he throws strikes.
   341. I Love LA (OFF) Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:59 PM (#2932603)
Yes!
   342. AJM Misses Brodeur Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:59 PM (#2932602)
Ballgame!

WOOY! HEART ATTACK AVERTED!
   345. Sam M. Posted: September 07, 2008 at 10:59 PM (#2932606)
BALLGAME!!!!!

And, oh how sweet for Rollins to be the last out.

Santana and Carlos II are HEROIC!!!!
   346. Alan S Posted: September 07, 2008 at 11:01 PM (#2932608)
Division lead back up to 2 games. All hail Carlos/Santana!
   347. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: September 07, 2008 at 11:01 PM (#2932607)
I like Ayala a lot. He throws strikes and he doesn't give up many homers. That alone is enough to be a solid reliever.
   348. Russlan is an overhyped Met BTFer Posted: September 07, 2008 at 11:01 PM (#2932609)
Huge win. 11-7 against the Phils this season.
   349. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 07, 2008 at 11:01 PM (#2932610)
I was confident. We had it all the way.

*notices lips are blue*
   350. Sam M. Posted: September 07, 2008 at 11:04 PM (#2932612)
The Mets' next 12 games are ALL against Washington and Atlanta. Five at home, then our seven last road games of the year. That is THE opportunity to put a lot of wins together, and put pressure on the Phillies to keep pace.
   351. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: September 07, 2008 at 11:27 PM (#2932628)
That's why they pay Santana. Great game all around.
