Thanks, Primer Chimp!

The Flyers play tonight at 8. Don't know yet if that's good or bad. Probably bad.

Bad. Joffrey Lupul is on your team.

It's going to be a beautiful evening, by the way. It's sunny and in the 70s now, probably be in the 60s tonight, although it's pretty windy out.

I'll be sad when baseball ends because then it's going to be death by football bludgeoning the rest of the year.

12 - I'm sorry to say I find hockey to be a sport from countries where the weather is too terrible to play soccer. Also, barely anyone in the country is aware it has even started.
   16. Lassus Posted: October 06, 2007 at 09:46 PM (#2564692)
Nice pitch to sit Burrell down there. You can see his knees in 20% buckle.
   17. Gamingboy Posted: October 06, 2007 at 09:46 PM (#2564694)
Hockey's started?
   18. MSI Posted: October 06, 2007 at 09:47 PM (#2564696)
If you ever give hockey a shot...well its a really solid sport. There's a lot of talent there (like Sydney Crosby), good hits and plays, lots of fights....and the playoffs are really intense. It's a lot faster paced than baseball.
   19. Lassus Posted: October 06, 2007 at 09:49 PM (#2564698)
You know, the last time I was in Coors Field (2003) there were a lot less people there. What a fun crowd.
   20. Paul DepoProvera Posted: October 06, 2007 at 09:51 PM (#2564703)
18 - and definitely see a game in person. There is a lot of energy there.
   21. Gamingboy Posted: October 06, 2007 at 09:51 PM (#2564704)
I was joking. I like Hockey, but it is probably my 3rd favorite sport.

Well, I'm from northern New York, which is rather close to Canada, and even worse weather (Great Lakes), so I have given hockey a chance - they play it all year. Subjectively, it's just too chaotic for me, not as much control over what's going on as I need to find it entertaining.

And let us not get started on the logic that "lots of fights" would make anything a solid sport.
   24. MSI Posted: October 06, 2007 at 09:52 PM (#2564710)
Yeah hockey is my 5th favourite. Baseball, basketball, football, tennis, hockey.
   25. MSI Posted: October 06, 2007 at 09:53 PM (#2564714)
you don't find fights entertaining? What about baseball brawls?
   26. Lassus Posted: October 06, 2007 at 09:53 PM (#2564715)
I love that comment on Jamie Moyer. Did he just say "he can hit 82 if he really rears back?" Hilarious.
   27. Gamingboy Posted: October 06, 2007 at 09:55 PM (#2564717)
Jamie Moyer = I am mere joy.

Michael Jordan, of course, should have died years ago.

25 - um, what about them? Do I cheer when they happen and consider them part of the sport? No and no.

I have a weird feeling this is going to be a low-scoring game.

Hey, I wonder if they will have to postpone/cancel the game? That would be nutty.

I do not care for this Jimenez pitcher's motion.

Is it bad I never heard of him? I think so.

I wonder if Moyer is going to pull his best Livan today.
   54. Billy Wagner's tears Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:18 PM (#2564762)
Wind here is insane in the fall(I live in the Co Springs). A WS here would be quite entertaining, though its been pretty warm here as well.
   55. Dan Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:19 PM (#2564764)
Is the wind blowing in towards home or what?
   56. Urban Faber Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:19 PM (#2564765)
Wind knocked that one down.

What is this, the PGA Tour? Follow the outfielder, camera people.
   58. Dan Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:20 PM (#2564767)
This wind is going to help Moyer a lot more than Jimenez.
   59. Gamingboy Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:21 PM (#2564768)
Can I be the first to say that, if the Rockies make it to the WS, the series won't end until Spring Training?
   60. Greg K Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:21 PM (#2564769)
The way Burrell tracked that I don't think keeping a focus on him would have given any clue as to where the ball was
   61. Lassus Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:23 PM (#2564771)
I love this kind of weather in CO, especially with the horrendous fall heat we're experiencing in NY. This looks like the first FALL baseball game of the year.
   62. Dan Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:24 PM (#2564772)
Where the #### did the 1-1 miss?
   63. Dan Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:26 PM (#2564773)
Wow, what a miserable call by Orsillo.
   64. Lassus Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:27 PM (#2564774)
Good lord, who was that running? The pitcher? Awful - that should have been a run.

I'm wondering now who the NLDS team on TBS will be.

What did he say?

I'm wondering now who the NLDS team on TBS will be.

You mean NLCS? Chippy, Tony and (I think) Brenly.
   68. Dan Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:30 PM (#2564780)
Whoa, I didn't know Jimy was the Phillies' bench coach
   69. Urban Faber Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:31 PM (#2564783)
Wasn't that supposed to be Art Howe's job?
   70. Paul DepoProvera Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:38 PM (#2564790)
Bad managers don't die, they just become bench coaches for other teams.

Blargh

Phils have wasted 3 innings swinging at the breaking pitches of somneone with little control of his breaking pitches.
   73. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:41 PM (#2564795)
Is Kaz Matsui that much of a threat to steal? Not that I mind Moyer's attempt to put Tulo to sleep with all this stalling.
   74. Gamingboy Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:48 PM (#2564805)
Stanford beat USC! UNBELIEVABLE!

Oh, does anyone else think that Moyer is the only non-knuckleballer who drives faster then he throws?
   75. Lassus Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:50 PM (#2564806)
You mean NLCS? Chippy, Tony and (I think) Brenly.

Ugh. That's a shame.
   76. Harris Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:52 PM (#2564808)
ok - I'll join the party - first game I've been able to watch at home - had to cut out of work around 4ish to catch the first two games at local taverns..

Nice job by Moyer to get out of that. What separates Moyer with runners on from Padilla with runners on, is that Moyer actually makes pseudo-pick-off attempts and more importantly still gets outs.

Even if the Phils lose tonight, you still have to be satisfied with their season.
   77. Urban Faber Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:54 PM (#2564811)
Oh, does anyone else think that Moyer is the only non-knuckleballer who drives faster then he throws?

Esteban Loaiza. Of course he drives faster than Nolan Ryan threw.

Oh, does anyone else think that Moyer is the only non-knuckleballer who drives faster then he throws?

Comments like that make me wonder if I could pitch at the ML level with my 62 mph fastball and my 49 mph changeup.
   79. Harris Posted: October 06, 2007 at 10:55 PM (#2564814)
oh and btw - if I ever got Aaron Rowand to 0-2 I would roll a ball to the plate and watch him swing at it.

Pitcher's battle in Denver heh.
I saw Ubaldo against the braves. he had real good stuff, but kinda shaky control. Think he is gonna be a stud though if he doesn't break down

HOLY CRAP DOES NUÑEZ SUCK

I firmly believe that if we'd had Pedro Feliz over the past two years we would be the favorite to repeat as World Series champions right now. That's how much value Nuñez has subtracted from this team. Enough with this guy already, PLEASE.
