I'd love to guess, but I don't have enough memories of that season to even make one that matters.

Not McGwire or Canseco.
   203. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:03 PM (#2980269)
At least Cory Wade won't be available for a close game if there is one tomorrow. This guy is pretty good.
   204. Gamingboy Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:06 PM (#2980271)
That IS funny, ball getting stuck in the shirt.
   205. Gamingboy Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:07 PM (#2980272)
PAT SAJAK! We now are up to 9!
   206. JJ1986 Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:07 PM (#2980273)
Do you have Pat Sajak on your celebrity list?
   207. Lassus Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:07 PM (#2980274)
Play dead, no out can be recorded, hitter awarded 1st.
   208. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:08 PM (#2980276)
That is one big smile in Berroa's Yahoo mugshot.
   209. Gamingboy Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:09 PM (#2980277)
Is it just me, or does McCarver have a higher seat then Buck?
   210. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:11 PM (#2980279)
I figured out what was odd about the Dodgers, they have a lot of so-called black guys and Latinos, but all of them are really light-skinned. Except Berroa.
   211. villainx Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:12 PM (#2980280)
Dawson?
   212. villainx Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:13 PM (#2980281)
Clark? Carter?
   213. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:13 PM (#2980282)
Not Dawson.

One guy in the AL West, in his 3rd year as a starter.

One guy in the NL East, in his 3rd year as a starter.

What's odd about the Dodgers is that their hats create noise on-screen for some reason on my TV. I assume it's something to do with the cable compression, but the Dodgers' hats are the only place it shows up.
   215. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:14 PM (#2980284)
Not Clark, not Carter.
   216. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:14 PM (#2980285)
That noise is Tim McCarver blathering about Manny Ramirez whenever he sees someone wearing a Dodgers hat.
   217. Lassus Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:16 PM (#2980286)
Is it just me, or does McCarver have a higher seat then Buck?

He's just happy to see you.
   218. Gamingboy Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:16 PM (#2980287)
Great, the Observer is at the game. Now Greg Maddux will probably deage into his glory days, Manny will begin to think he is a Red Sox player and Tommy LaSorda will become a zombie.
   219. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:17 PM (#2980288)
The Observer, you mean from MST3K?
   220. Gamingboy Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:18 PM (#2980290)
No. Fringe. You'd think they'd be better at avoiding using names like that.
   221. Lassus Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:18 PM (#2980292)
OK, everyone has to stay here until we match the number of Boston gamechatter posts from yesterday.
   222. Dan Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:19 PM (#2980293)
Why the hell would you use your closer in a 5 run game? Wouldn't it be better to have him available for 2 innings tomorrow?

Someone's bound to guess the NL and AL strikeout leaders from 1988 in the next 1,200 comments!

I was actually just wondering this aloud to my fellow underground bunker-mates here.
   225. JJ1986 Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:21 PM (#2980296)
Jack Clark?
   226. villainx Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:21 PM (#2980297)
Davis the Red?
   227. Lassus Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:22 PM (#2980298)
I can't believe Berroa has a spot on a team playing for the pennant. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone.

You'd think he'd have learned something from 2003 World Series Game 4
   229. villainx Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:23 PM (#2980301)
Riveting post game questions!
   230. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:23 PM (#2980302)
Not Jack Clark. Looks like he was 5th in the AL with 141. Yes, that was his one season with the Yankees.

These guys were both in their 3rd season as big-league regulars, heralding the high-strikeout era that was beginning to unfold.
   231. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:24 PM (#2980304)
Eric Davis's career high was a mere 134.
   232. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:24 PM (#2980305)
as befits a guy whose career high in games played was 135.
   233. JJ1986 Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:25 PM (#2980306)
One last guess, Fred McGriff? I think he would have been in his third year.
   234. JJ1986 Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:26 PM (#2980308)
Looked up the answers - I would have never guessed either of them. They're both 90s players in my mind, although apparently they spent five years playing in the 80s.

teams

Rangers, Expos
   236. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:32 PM (#2980312)
Good job by the Phillies bullpen. I would have liked to see 5 innings by Happ so they weren't all used today...I wonder if that's what the blogs will soon be complaining about.

Mickey Tettleton and Andre Dawson?

Rangers, Expos

Gotta be Sierra and Galarraga.
   239. Baseballing powerhouse Crispix Attacks Posted: October 12, 2008 at 11:50 PM (#2980322)
Incaviglia and Galarraga!

thanks for playing, see you tomorrow
