Oh well, that was fun.

Well, if you can't beat Ramon Ortiz and Pedro Astacio on back-to-back nights, you probably don't deserve to make the playoffs.

It would be really funny if the Astros AND Reds somehow both snuck in...

Nice to see ye olde C and ye teh suck LF sitting out tonight. Of course, it also appears that Utley is the only one who showed up to play. Egads. Another phlop.

Ok. So Rollins showed up as well. Ya hoo.

To lose three straight 1-run games would be a nice way to start the last week of the season. Egads.

PHILADELPHIA FREEDOM

I LOVE YOU

YES I DO
   8. Cutter Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:07 PM (#2189906)
Gordon, I swear, if you blow the Cole Hamels win for me I will hate you even more than I already do, which is pretty tough. MY fantasy league championship is riding on this.
   9. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:11 PM (#2189909)
Gordon's arm is gonna fall off at some point before th phillies stop playing. Might as well be tonight; save everyone the drama.

LA trails by only 1 out in CO...
   10. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:14 PM (#2189914)
Jeez... only in Cholly-world do you IBB a free-swinger like Soriano to get to Zimmerman. Hell, if you threw 4 pitches down and away to Soriano you might just strike him out.

Cholly, Cholly, Cholly...
   11. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:17 PM (#2189915)
Gordon is vomiting the season away.
   12. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:18 PM (#2189918)
Sorry Cutter.

And that's why you don't walk the bases loaded. I hate that ****ing "strategy." Especially when the guy you walk is Soriano. The Phillies don't deserve **** if they're this effing stupid.
   13. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:20 PM (#2189919)
No girls love Tom Gordon. At least none in Philly.

Can't take the pressure in Boston? Check.
Can't take the pressure in NYC? Check.
Can't take the pressure in Philly? Check.

Next stop: Los Angeles!
   14. "Andruw for HoF" sure died down Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:21 PM (#2189921)
Why didn't Kearns take one for the team and let that Gordon pitch hit him?
   15. Cutter Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:22 PM (#2189922)
What a loser. Philly fans, do yourself a favor. Start a petition to get that guy out of there as soon as possible. He will only screw you over in huge situations.
   16. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:27 PM (#2189926)
OK, so now you have basically Geary and the AAA squad in what is turning out to be a must-win game. And Geary's arm is on life support he's been used so much. Way to go Cholly.

See, people wonder why Phillies fans are bitter, or don't care, or are bandwagon jumpers... it's because to watch a guy like Cholly Stupid focking Yokel Chucklehead fockup every day for 6 months is to repeatedly stab yourself in the eyes with a pencil so you blind yourself to having to watch his stupid fat focking chucklehead yokel a*s take his fuuucckking hat off and rub his hand through his stupid focking hair every time goshdurnit one of his brillant focking hunches backfires. Most of us would rather stay sane than to watch this focking mental midget every god**** day for 6 months.

ARGH! I hate this focking team.
   17. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:30 PM (#2189928)
And LA goes up in CO by 1 run. If the Phillies lose this it's basically over if LA wins... 2 back with 4 to play means you'd have to win out to have any hope of even a tie.

Lordy, what a choke by Gordon. Didn't Gillick get the memo about the vomiting in the 2004 ALCS?
   18. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:31 PM (#2189931)
Abraham Nunez, savior of a season?
   19. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:31 PM (#2189932)
Dear god... pigs are flying outside my house.

OK. Geary to close in the 10th. Gordon at 34 pitches is done, unless Cholly has a Grady Little moment here...
   20. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:33 PM (#2189933)
OK, I hate Lieberthal as much as the next guy but explain why Joe Thurston hits for Gordon instead of Lieberthal?
   21. Guapo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:42 PM (#2189941)
Gameday:

- N. Logan reached on bunt single to pitcher
- R. Church grounded out to first

how does this happen and Logan doesn't advance from first?
   22. Hendry's Wad of Cash (UCCF) Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:43 PM (#2189943)
It was slow to update. Logan went to second.
   23. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:43 PM (#2189945)
I hate them all. Fock this team and the horse they rode in on. They deserve shite.
   24. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:46 PM (#2189950)
This game has been incredible
   25. Hendry's Wad of Cash (UCCF) Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:47 PM (#2189951)
What the hell just happened there? I can't picture it from the radio call.
   26. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:52 PM (#2189962)
Pujols K's with the bases loaded. CLA!

Pitt/Houston in extras. Phillies blow saves in consecutive innings! Dodgers score 2 to take the lead!
   27. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:54 PM (#2189965)
wow, MASN ###### up big time
   28. Sometimes it Rains (sj) Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:56 PM (#2189969)
i want to root for the Phillies, but how can I root for a team that protects Ryan F Howard with Jeff Conine. How uncreative.
   29. Bob Koo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 10:59 PM (#2189973)
Rick White? No way the Phils win this one.
   30. Guapo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:00 PM (#2189975)
Zimmerman ends it here.
   31. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:03 PM (#2189979)

   35. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:23 PM (#2189995)
Clay Condrey? Jeez.
   36. Bob Koo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:27 PM (#2190000)
You would think that the Phillies have to score here...
   37. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:29 PM (#2190003)
I'm getting a little sick of these Phillies fans.
   38. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:35 PM (#2190007)
In what universe is Conine less likely to single than Howard is to double or homer? Robinson's a dumbass.
   39. Zeba Zeba Eata Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:36 PM (#2190011)
Jeff Conine is killing the Phillies.
   40. frannyzoo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:37 PM (#2190014)
in the universe that is today's Jeff Conine....that's which universe.
   41. Bob Koo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:42 PM (#2190018)
Wow, it seems like this game and the Astros-Pirates one are never going to end.
   42. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:44 PM (#2190021)
Lieberthal is presumably dead, because Cholly has not PH him at all... unless he's saving him for the 17th inning, where he'll hit a GW HR... Genius!

I mean, I hate Lieby, but there have been several times already where you could make a solid case he should have been the PH.
   43. Bob Koo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:46 PM (#2190024)
Well, now the Phillies and Astros are threatening.
   44. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:49 PM (#2190032)
If the Phillies don't score here... wow.
   45. frannyzoo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:51 PM (#2190036)
Help me out here, as I don't usually listen to the Phils home radio feed. Who is the seemingly drunk color guy who just said "tell me this isn't happening"?
   46. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:51 PM (#2190038)
Jose effing Hernandez instead of Lieberthal! Jesus H. Xrist.

Wake UP CHOLLY YOUR SEASON IS ON THE LINE YOU FAT FOCK!
   47. Hendry's Wad of Cash (UCCF) Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:52 PM (#2190040)
Holy cow, good time for that.
   48. Repoz Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:52 PM (#2190043)
Finally...saving Conine's sagging face.
   49. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:55 PM (#2190047)
Sounds like Larry Anderson, frannyzoo, though without listening I can't be 100% certain.
   50. Bob Koo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:57 PM (#2190049)
Wow, this game has certainly had its share of unexpected happenings.
   51. Textbook Editor Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:57 PM (#2190050)
I have my doubts that anyone named Fabio can be clutch here. I hope I'm wrong. The season is in the balance here. Being 2 out with 4 to play is as good as eliminated.
   52. Hey, it's what Johan uses (Matt) Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:58 PM (#2190053)
Pitcher pinch-hitting gets a single. Damn.

BAD THROW! Holy ####!
   53. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:59 PM (#2190054)
What. A. Game.
   54. Danny Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:59 PM (#2190055)
Wow, base hit ties it.
   55. Bob Koo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:59 PM (#2190056)
The announcer is right; you definitely saw that error coming. Time for Ryan Church bases-clearing double to win it?
   56. frannyzoo Posted: September 27, 2006 at 11:59 PM (#2190057)
Now I understand what torture it has been being a Phillies fan this year.
   57. Hendry's Wad of Cash (UCCF) Posted: September 28, 2006 at 12:00 AM (#2190059)
This is like listening to a Cubs game.
   58. Anthropophagus Mets Posted: September 28, 2006 at 12:02 AM (#2190061)
Scorched. Yikes.
   59. Hendry's Wad of Cash (UCCF) Posted: September 28, 2006 at 12:02 AM (#2190063)
Wow. What a game.

Wow.
   63. Bob Koo Posted: September 28, 2006 at 12:06 AM (#2190071)
Great game. I'm actually rooting for the Phillies to win the wild card. As a Mets fan, I'd rather my team play the Central winner in the first round.
   64. Textbook Editor Posted: September 28, 2006 at 12:08 AM (#2190075)
Tonight was just about the craziest bunch of regular season games you're ever likely to see.

Jon L. better get ready to throw 9 innings tomorrow/today.
   65. Traco Bucco Posted: September 28, 2006 at 01:32 PM (#2190510)
Even though I had to be at work at 7:30 am today, I stayed at RFK until the end. (Of course, it helps that my home is less than ten minutes from the ballpark on foot.) What a fantastic game. I wish that Robinson would have let his team pitch to Howard, one of the few players in the league worth staying up two hours past one's bedtime to see hit.

My oddball highlight was when a group of three Nats fans a few rows in front of me attempted to counter the Philadelphia fans' enthusiasm by chanting what sounded like something derogatory about "Rocky IV." Which would be a clever jab at Philadelphia, in my book. On closer listen, however, it turned out they were chanting "Dodgers 6, Rockies 4."
