Claudio Vargas made his first minor league appearance today in A ball. 5 ip, 6 k, 2 hits, 1 ER. Castro played as well and went 2-3 in that game.

When Vargas is ready, I move Figgy to Sosa's role as long man and use Vargas in the rotation.

From the looks of it, the Pirates don't return here this year, so if tonight is rained out, I suppose we get a double header tomorrow?

As for Figueroa, depending on how long it takes Vargas to get ready, it's entirely possible Figueroa has pitched himself off the team by then.

Metsblog says the game is postponed, and it will be made up on August 11th.
