Figueroa's even better against righties so far this year. Quite frankly, he's a better pitcher than Pelfrey right now. But I suppose the more important point is that Figueroa is better suited for the pen while he sits out a start.
Figueroa isn't very good either, for all his good work and fluckishly low HR/9 rate he has an ERA+ of 91. Vargas has pitched pretty well the last two years despite playing for poor defensive teams and ballparks that are not really good fits for him. He's a better bet than Figueroa. I think he'll do well as a Met.
Pelfrey probably should be in AAA, refining his secondary pitches, so I'd probably keep Figgy in the rotation but wouldn't be upset if the Mets went with Pelfrey.
Alou's MRI revealed no major damage and he could be in the lineup Friday. Smoltz went on the DL.
Eh, I think that's before he went 8 for his last 18, raising his average 52 points. But I guess we do forget that it's still April.
Our two top catchers are hurt. You are going to see Gustavo Molina tomorrow.
Hey, he's better than DiFelice, Stinett, and Alomar.
I know! It's weird to me too.
If Church can be an .825-.850 OPS hitter, he should be a really good player overall. His ZR in rightfield has been outstanding and that's a career trend. He is respectable in CF, and good in LF, but awesome in right.
But not as much as he's been doing. He also needs to get back to striking out hitters; I don't know what's up with that this year.
Anyone can get LaRoche. He's been just awful to start the season (as he is every year).
Feh.
Based on the two baserunners, it's not worth ####.
It's not even that difficult - he's just dumb as dirt.
