I'm pretty upset the Cards traded Pujols for Lugo, Crisp, Zink and Ellsbury, but I guess you have to make that deal.

How did idiots ever provide for their families before the days of sports journalism?
   3. Guts Posted: August 19, 2008 at 08:18 PM (#2909110)
Dan and Al are falling over Looper's newfound ability to prevent walks, and so he promptly walks Nyjer ####### Morgan. Uninspiring start.

That Doumit guy is annoyingly good. I keep forgetting the Bucs have a good lineup...
   5. Guts Posted: August 19, 2008 at 08:39 PM (#2909161)
Kind of a blah first inning.

For the longest time I've been hoping they'd get Hansen, but after the Bay deal this will do.
   7. Guts Posted: August 19, 2008 at 08:48 PM (#2909197)
I thought about making it Pujols for Lugo, Crisp and Zink, but that was too ridiculous.
   8. Guts Posted: August 19, 2008 at 08:56 PM (#2909238)
The next two innings have been much more solid, but I'm still waiting for some offense against Snell.
   9. Guts Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:04 PM (#2909264)
This Wainwright controversy is stupid - he needs to start. I realize no one here will disagree with me, but I need to vent.

Albert looking bad in the game. Hopefully, they'll still toss in Crisp.

Looper looking good.

Ian effing Snell is looking way too good though.

Cards should hold out for Schilling, imo.

Dear Lord, I hate Gerard Fasel.
   13. Guts Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2909440)
Snell is looking really tough right now. Fortunately, Looper is keeping it close enough that we can still say the bullpen blew it.
   14. Flounder is dangerous again Posted: August 19, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2909442)
We dont seem to have much of a clue against this guy. Horrible K by Skippy.
   15. Guts Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:13 PM (#2909573)
Need...offense...badly...
   16. Flounder is dangerous again Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:18 PM (#2909588)
Nothing good happens when Izturis hits the ball, but that is magnified when he hits it in the air.

I have not been particularly impressed with Joe Mather this year.

Come on Albert.
   18. Guts Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2909628)
####, Albert is a little short there.
   19. Flounder is dangerous again Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2909627)
####. thought he had that one.
   20. Flounder is dangerous again Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:40 PM (#2909641)
I'd be getting someone up in the bullpen about now.
   21. Flounder is dangerous again Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:43 PM (#2909648)
this might not end well.
   22. Flounder is dangerous again Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2909649)
someone should have told these guys there is a game tonight.
   23. Guts Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:46 PM (#2909650)
This has taken a pretty outrageous turn for the worst.
   24. Flounder is dangerous again Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:47 PM (#2909652)
come on tony, please dont hang mclellan out to dry like this.
   25. Flounder is dangerous again Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:48 PM (#2909654)
Oh come on now. Hate to say this but where the hell is Molina's head tonight?
   26. Portia Stanke Posted: August 19, 2008 at 10:58 PM (#2909665)
They're really going to get shut out by one of the worst teams and worst pitchers in baseball.

Gag. Sometimes this team looks like the best in the NL, and then other nights they remind you of why CC and his scrubby good-time gang are 2.5 games out in front.
   27. Flounder is dangerous again Posted: August 19, 2008 at 11:00 PM (#2909667)
Good job Villone. They still shouldn't have scored any runs that inning.
   28. retro-shiite Posted: August 19, 2008 at 11:14 PM (#2909677)
This is getting a little too interesting.
   29. In what respect, Craig K? Posted: August 19, 2008 at 11:16 PM (#2909679)
Don't worry, nothing will happen.

Hey, the Cards didn't get shut out by Ian Snell and the Pirates. It's a moral victory!
   32. In what respect, Craig K? Posted: August 19, 2008 at 11:20 PM (#2909683)
####### losers.
   33. retro-shiite Posted: August 19, 2008 at 11:21 PM (#2909685)
I dunno...I would've looked at you funny if you said in March that the Cards would have the NL's third-best record on August 20. Not that you care what I think.
   34. Portia Stanke Posted: August 19, 2008 at 11:25 PM (#2909688)
Coming into this game, Ian Snell had a WHIP of nearly 1.9 with an ERA of 9.00 against the Cardinals. It's not exactly far-fetched to expect the team to win this game, particularly when Looper allows one run in seven innings.

Just another game the team will have to make up in September against a better team.
