Hmmm. Since he'll be batting left-handed, Kielty should probably have been "Two-Face" today.
   3. Shinbone Posted: August 30, 2006 at 03:36 PM (#2161879)
Coco's out. One healthy bench player: Javy Lopez.

Outfield Youkilis, Kapler, Hinske.

Kapler batting fifth.

I think they've hit bottom!

"I think they've hit bottom!"

I keep having that thought, and then the sun rises again.

Maybe they'll forfeit a game at some point?
   6. Shinbone Posted: August 30, 2006 at 03:45 PM (#2161908)
Well, they did lose 9-0 the other night. That's the forfeit score, isn't it?
   7. PJ Martinez Posted: August 30, 2006 at 03:48 PM (#2161918)
3,000.
   8. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 03:49 PM (#2161921)
They highlighted Blyleven as an active pitcher with 3,000.
   9. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 03:55 PM (#2161934)
Yeah, definitely Two-Face.
   10. PJ Martinez Posted: August 30, 2006 at 03:56 PM (#2161936)
This inning's going surprisingly well.

Strikeout, GIDP?
   11. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 03:59 PM (#2161941)
Expecting Chavez to tag Kapler before he throws Hinske out?
   12. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 04:09 PM (#2161954)
Two-Face!!!

Kielty hit a home run left-handed? What next, Kendall hits one his next time up?

Kielty hit a home run left-handed? What next, Kendall hits one his next time up?

It's part of Schilling's continuing effort to one-up Beckett in the HR-allowed category. He thinks catching him in the overall number is a lost cause, so now he has to get creative.

Frank Thomas is teh awesome. I miss him.

Waiting for Kotsay to score, and

there are few more innings, it shall come

Strikeouts and pop flies. Seems like old times...

But yeah, he shook off that rust rather nicely.
   26. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:14 PM (#2162023)
Less than optimal.
   27. Sean McNally Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:19 PM (#2162028)
Cano would have homered there.

Before that lazy flyout, Peoria was hitting .150... or as I like to call it "Half Schilling's Weight."

C'mon Kotsay, make me type it....
   30. Dig!!! JMM Dig!!! Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:27 PM (#2162034)
Oh wait, Swisher's batting second. C'mon Nick, make Kotsay make me type it.
   31. Sean McNally Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:28 PM (#2162035)
You know what I've noticed, Schilling really seems to just pitch well enough to win. If the gets 2 runs, he gives up 1. If he gets 5 runs, he gives up 4. If he has a 1 run lead, he can dial it up to get a big out but if he has a comfortable lead, he'll go on cruise control and allow himself to get cuffed a little, in order conserve himself for later when he might need to dial it up again.
   32. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:30 PM (#2162036)
Swisher (or was that "Kswisher"?) was in the middle of that original rally, so it's only appropriate.
   33. Sean McNally Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:30 PM (#2162037)
Also, Curt has incredible powers of concentration. His mechanics are impeccable and he never gets out of sync, even when he's tired.
   34. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:31 PM (#2162038)
If we'd only known then how prophetic "Kswisher" would become...
   35. Dig!!! JMM Dig!!! Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:33 PM (#2162039)
The KKK (and Ellis, etc) took their baby away!
   36. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:34 PM (#2162040)
*breathless anticipation*
   37. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:35 PM (#2162042)
Well, that just ended up looking dumb.
   38. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:36 PM (#2162043)
McNally, you are being a jerk.

This Boston lineup is awful without Ramirez and Ortiz. They need a Melky.
   39. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:38 PM (#2162045)
I'm much happier when they have three center fielders in the game.
   40. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:41 PM (#2162048)
I look ahead to 2007 and see...a gaping hole in the rotation.
   41. Dig!!! JMM Dig!!! Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:41 PM (#2162049)
The 3 CFs configuration does tend to spoil us. Radio made it sound like a relatively routine hit though.
   42. Dig!!! JMM Dig!!! Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:44 PM (#2162050)
It will definitely be a hole; how gaping depends on Gaudin and Duke (I'm assuming they go to the rotation, with Harden probably going to the pen) and on Loaiza finding Clean Steve faster next year than he did this year (and whatever moves might be made).
   43. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:47 PM (#2162051)
BURNSIDE IS THE NEW KEITH HERNANDEZ!!!
   44. Dig!!! JMM Dig!!! Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:48 PM (#2162052)
Was that catch by Swisher as good as Fosse's play-by-play made it sound?
   45. Dig!!! JMM Dig!!! Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:49 PM (#2162054)
I'll take post 43 as a "yes."
   46. Dig!!! JMM Dig!!! Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:52 PM (#2162055)
And now, can Payton make it all 9 starters with a hit?
   47. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 05:53 PM (#2162057)
Bah. Rolls over another outside pitch and gets rewarded with a double.
   48. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: August 30, 2006 at 06:07 PM (#2162061)
Oh dear. Papelbon pitching with a 7-run deficit, just to get some work.
   49. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: August 30, 2006 at 06:08 PM (#2162062)
Uh, 5-run deficit. Same concept.
   50. Dig!!! JMM Dig!!! Posted: August 30, 2006 at 06:08 PM (#2162063)
Okay, let's bataround so Ellis can get a single for one of those stupid arse cycles....
   51. Sean McNally Posted: August 30, 2006 at 06:08 PM (#2162064)
McNally, you are being a jerk.

SJ made me do it. He questioned my manhood.
   52. Dewitty_Pun Posted: August 30, 2006 at 06:09 PM (#2162065)
Papelbon has been relagated to mop-up. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. :-)
   53. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 06:10 PM (#2162066)
How does that make him different from anyone else?
   54. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: August 30, 2006 at 06:11 PM (#2162068)
Slow on the draw today, it seems.
   55. Sean McNally Posted: August 30, 2006 at 06:13 PM (#2162070)
Post 52 - Matt Leinart agrees with you.
   56. rLr Did Your Mother 'Cause She's Hot As A Baker Posted: August 30, 2006 at 06:14 PM (#2162071)
SJ made me do it. He questioned my manhood.

If the Soft One said you weren't a man if you didn't jump off the Brooklyn Bridge, would you?

No, but I don't need to be goaded much into needling RSN.

So, Kevin Cash.

Yeah, the Devil Rays are smart.
   59. Severiano Flitcraft Posted: August 30, 2006 at 06:44 PM (#2162091)
Is Big Papi going to be OK? He kills my team (8.5?), but I love to watch him rake.
