The Rockies are now a team I will always root against, even if they're playing the godbothering Mets. Thanks for nothing. I'm sure they care.

I don't know what I was thinking starting Zambrano. He'll probably be okay, but I don't need wins, strikeouts or ERA and am tied in losses. This lineup getting a couple runs seems like a dream. Although inexpensive, Jon Mabry has to be one of the worst acquisitions the Cubs have made under the currect regieme. And Ronny Cedeno's just embarrassing.

Sam Hornish Jr. to do the 7th-inning stretch? Hope he's as memorable as Jeff "Wrigley Stadium" Gordon....

Did I mention how terrible John Mabry is?
   6. Greg Franklin Posted: September 29, 2006 at 03:43 PM (#2191760)
Good thing Billy Beane didn't trade an established player for him. That would've been stupid.

I must be on drugs to have started Zambrano.

I'd like to add that this abortion of an offense has scored one run against a pitcher with a 5.51 ERA and the wind blowing out.

Hornish got the words all right, but he was totally off-key. Ugh!

John Mabry looks the most done of any player I have ever seen. You can practically see the fork coming out of his back.

I can't believe Josh Fogg's gonna throw a complete game.

WCUTB ... it's been done. Fogg won't make it to 1:52, but it should be under 2:20.

5 hits so far, and of course no walks. The Rockies got 5 hits and 5 walks, 3 of which scored.

This means we're up to -285, and solo 4th place all-time. I think it's too much to hope that the Cubs get to -300 by the end of the season.

33K announced attendance at Wrigley Field. Whoever's watching, how many butts were actually in the seats for this turkey?

About half that, Greg, unless it was a late-arriving crowd. I saw the first inning or two.

Not that it matters at this point, but Jones hitting with two on in the ninth against a lefty reiterated just how badly the Cubs need to platoon the guy.
