My cat is named Jo Jo. Go Braves I guess.

Reyes pulled after 2.2 IP for a blister on his throwing arm.
   3. flournoy Posted: May 08, 2008 at 02:11 PM (#2773812)
Probably on his hand, specifically...
   4. Master of the small sample size Posted: May 08, 2008 at 02:40 PM (#2773844)
Now Carlyle is pulled for injury... Campillo in. Let's see what it is this time...

Let's see what it is this time.

Took a stinger to his neck/head when he tried to tag Kouz. Almost got beheaded.
   6. Corn On Ty Cobb Posted: May 08, 2008 at 02:44 PM (#2773848)
They're dropping like flies.
   7. Barry Gibb Posted: May 08, 2008 at 02:45 PM (#2773849)
Carlyle going along quite nicely, getting the righties until that, now 2 more runs that should not have happened.

Also, why is Infante batting leadoff in his first game back? Why is he playing in the first place?
   8. Master of the small sample size Posted: May 08, 2008 at 02:50 PM (#2773855)
I'm more concerned that Kelly Johnson isn't playing.
   9. Barry Gibb Posted: May 08, 2008 at 02:54 PM (#2773858)
I was eluding to that. I don't see how BC can give two of the best hitters on the team offdays. McCann, obviously, day game after a night game, but no excuse for KJ not to be in the lineup.

Every fan always thinks that his team gets screwed with injuries, but seriously...

Smoltz, Glavine, Hampton, James, Soriano, Moylan, Infante, Pena, and Prado have all gone on the DL. Johnson and Jones both missed a few games. Some of those injuries are hardly a surprise (here's looking at you, Hampton), but still... we're one week into May!

Frankly, if someone needs a day off, I'd give it to him against Ledezma.
   12. Barry Gibb Posted: May 08, 2008 at 03:17 PM (#2773885)
Merideth in, KJ or Mac please?
   13. flournoy Posted: May 08, 2008 at 03:18 PM (#2773889)
I guess that's either because

a.) Ledezma's a tough left hander, so it's a good day to go with a right hander
b.) Ledezma usually sucks, so your bench players should hit pretty well anyway
or
c.) You were being sarcastic

Not sure which way to go.

The Yahoo box score hasn't shown who's pinch hitting for Campillo yet. (Somebody had better be pinch hitting for Campillo here.) Hopefully it's Johnson, even if it's left handed Shawn Estes pitching.
   14. Master of the small sample size Posted: May 08, 2008 at 03:20 PM (#2773891)
No, Norton ties it up.

I guess that's the only advantage of having a half-season DH... you always have a PH.

Kelly to PH in now.

And as to #13, mostly B and C. Braves fans should know B by now, and C is a given considering this board.
   16. Barry Gibb Posted: May 08, 2008 at 03:21 PM (#2773896)
Norton wins again! Tough pitch to hit to hit. Good, KJ for Infante. Maybe this is one game that BC won't mess up the bench and bullpen moves.
   17. Barry Gibb Posted: May 08, 2008 at 03:22 PM (#2773902)
Were any of those pitches strikes? I am getting kind of sick of Terry Pendleton. Part of me can't wait until Chipper retires, so the Braves can have a competent hitting coach.
   18. flournoy Posted: May 08, 2008 at 03:45 PM (#2773945)
Five of the eight runs scored today (including all four of the Braves') have been unearned. Sounds like an ugly ballgame.
   19. Barry Gibb Posted: May 08, 2008 at 03:50 PM (#2773954)
Yea, this is one of those games that no one wants to win, especially the Padres. Hopefully Bennett can do his job.
   20. Master of the small sample size Posted: May 08, 2008 at 04:11 PM (#2773987)
I think it's just one of those games where there are no solid hits, and most of the runs come from the ugly stuff.

The best hit ball was probably Teixeira on a 3-0 count, and it was caught at the track.
   21. flournoy Posted: May 08, 2008 at 04:14 PM (#2773991)
The Braves will score a run in the ninth inning and win this game by one run.

I don't doubt there's been worse, but that's one awful IBB by Thatcher.

Not that I went too far out on a limb, but nice prediction, if I do say so myself!
   24. Barry Gibb Posted: May 08, 2008 at 04:32 PM (#2774020)
Call it whatever you will, but Diaz is a prime candidate for a DP, and most people would have been IBBed in that situation.
   25. Master of the small sample size Posted: May 08, 2008 at 04:36 PM (#2774026)
I'm a bit disappointed Francoeur didn't swing at some of those intentional balls. Seems some were thrown low and inside instead of high and away...

Didn't someone on the Marlins get a hit that way a year or two ago?
   26. Bicycle RepairMan Posted: May 08, 2008 at 04:38 PM (#2774032)
The curse is done! the long southern nightmare is over! We have won a 1 run game!!
1-9 and a perfect homestand.

Now for more lefties on a 6 games through Pa
