7.1 IP, 1 ER. Mark it down.
   2. Hammered to the Gap Posted: September 28, 2007 at 12:00 PM (#2547853)
Capuano has to figure out some way to extend his streak... 8 ER in the first??? That oughta do.
   3. retro-shiite Posted: September 28, 2007 at 01:42 PM (#2548032)
Consider me one of the Pad People, at least for now.
   4. Dewitty_Pun Posted: September 28, 2007 at 06:50 PM (#2548387)
Capuano sucks. Milwakee has lost 21 straight games in which he has appeared.
   5. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:10 PM (#2548580)
Capuano actually has looked more like his old self his last few appearances. He's had better location on his fastball, which has been missing, which then sets up his good changeup.
   6. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:12 PM (#2548589)
Sort of like that first inning, actually.
   7. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:16 PM (#2548607)
Idiots running on the field.
   8. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:19 PM (#2548626)
Weeks gets to a 3-2 count. Same 'ol, same 'ol.

Ooh, HBP.
   9. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:20 PM (#2548635)
And the Weeks steal.
   10. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:21 PM (#2548637)
Whoa, nice bunt by Hardy that turns into a hit.
   11. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:22 PM (#2548640)
"They're jumping on Maddux." Please kill yourself, Dave O'Brien.
   12. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:24 PM (#2548645)
Braun sac fly. Too bad he hit that to deepest part of the park - that was pretty well hit.
   13. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:26 PM (#2548651)
Bad time to go fishing, Prince.
   14. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:27 PM (#2548654)
HARDY with a steal? He doesn't run very often, to put it mildly.
   15. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:27 PM (#2548656)
Hart makes it 2-0!
   16. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:27 PM (#2548657)
The pitches on both steals have been right down the middle for balls. I spit on Hirschbeck.

Atleast you are assured of a HoF place..poor Robbie.

Did you hear the conversation Maddux had with an umpire earlier this year during a Braves' game? he said I don't have good enuff stuff now to get 4 strikes on a hitter, and asked the ump to go easy no him. Classic maddux
   19. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:48 PM (#2548747)
Are you sure that was against the Braves? Didn't seem like that long ago.
   20. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:53 PM (#2548769)
Maddux picked off with 1-foot lead. Typical Capuano.
   21. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 08:54 PM (#2548783)
I'm frankly tired of people saying Bradley got hurt when he was spun to the ground by Bud Black. No such thing ever happened. He stepped on Black's foot and his knee buckled, tearing the ACL. Having torn his ACL, he favored the leg and fell.

Balk.
   22. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:07 PM (#2548824)
Sheets warming in the pen for a second straight night.
   23. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:08 PM (#2548829)
This is the "can't spot his pitches" Capuano that's shown up for most of the year.
   24. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:08 PM (#2548835)
Oh, Sheets isn't even throwing to a catcher.
   25. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:10 PM (#2548838)
2-1 Brewers
   26. Bicycle RepairMan Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:10 PM (#2548839)
Are you sure that was against the Braves? Didn't seem like that long ago.

pretty sure. Just before the ASB when I still had some hope. And he got roped for cple of HRs. I hope he gets is ERA under 4...seeing Maddux with an ERA over 4 sucks
   27. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:11 PM (#2548842)
Sac fly ties it.
   28. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:14 PM (#2548858)
I hope he gets is ERA under 4...

I don't think that can happen now unless he goes about ten innings.
   29. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:14 PM (#2548862)
Crap. Bad throw home makes it 3-2 Pads.
   30. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:15 PM (#2548863)
Of course, he could theoretically appear in a playoff game...
   31. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:19 PM (#2548878)
Love how Yost is getting outthought by Rick Sutcliffe.

I scoff, sneer and openly spit at Nate Silver's repeated contention that Capuano is a victim of "bad luck".

It's often an unfair and unjust statement but in this case it applies, "Get your head out of the spreadsheets and see a game."

Chris stinks. Why is this so difficult for the saberati to grasp?

He is bad. Period.
   32. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:20 PM (#2548888)
HART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tie game!
   33. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:22 PM (#2548895)
Gross with a double! Brewers kinda spurt-y against Maddux tonight.
   34. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:23 PM (#2548899)
NTN;

How do we help folks understand that CC has "earned" his poor results?

Pretty hard to do.

He hits his spots, he pitches well. Can't hit his spots/nibbles, gets rocked.
Not unsurprising for a guy who gets most of his outs of a 87MPH fastball/plus changeup combo.
   36. Dag Nabbit Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:26 PM (#2548909)
HW,

Gather 'em around the campfire and tell them the sad tale of Glendon Rusch, another lefty with great peripherals who consistently wasn't as good as his K:W ratios.
   37. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:28 PM (#2548920)
NTN:

Well, you're a lot of help........ha, ha.

Damian Miller looks 57 out there.....
   38. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:32 PM (#2548932)
Chris:

It's insane the amount of column space being devoted to how Capuano is indicative of how the Crew's defense is horrible.

That guys like Gallardo and Villanueva manage to cope is ignored.
   39. Bicycle RepairMan Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:36 PM (#2548947)

He did for 2 years...I think its more about his fastball losing its efficiency..

He's not hitting his spots nearly as often as he was early on last year. No way, no how.

Two on, no out. This may be promising.
   41. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:40 PM (#2548963)
Don't retire, Bruce, kill yourself.
   42. SantoFan Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:41 PM (#2548970)
Way to go fat man.
   43. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:43 PM (#2548979)
ARE YOU SURE HE WASN'T SAFE?
   44. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:43 PM (#2548980)
Or it might not be promising.
   45. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:45 PM (#2548987)
That's rather embarrassing. I'm somewhat glad about the DP. Who wants that kind of help?

Be ready for nap time if it's Vargas, he is a tad deliberate.
   46. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:51 PM (#2549005)
Back-to-back doubles. Way to go Vargas.
   47. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:53 PM (#2549015)
Nobody out. TAG UP, BONEHEAD!
   48. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:54 PM (#2549019)
He thought it wasn't going to be caught, it appeared.
   49. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:56 PM (#2549030)
Greene's had a really crappy baserunning series. Not getting to third, not getting to third on the wild pitch, and then getting caught up.
   50. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:56 PM (#2549032)
Yeah, but if it gets in the gap he's still likely to score even if he's gone back.

OH MY GOD!
   51. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 09:57 PM (#2549034)
And besides getting caught up, he didn't stay in it long enough to get the runner to second.
   52. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:00 PM (#2549045)
I wouldn't argue with Hirschbeck, Brady.

Last he worked the plate in a Brewers game, he tossed Jenkins - who was almost to the dugout and had his back turned to the umpire.
   53. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:02 PM (#2549051)
Five innings and Maddux gets yanked.
   54. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:05 PM (#2549056)
Hart picked a good day to break the mini-slump he had been in since the homestand started.
   55. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:06 PM (#2549059)
Thatcher's gonna give up the lead right here, and when he does I'm immediately switching camps.
   56. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:06 PM (#2549062)
Yeah Doug, who wants those hard throwing lefties?

Geez. Thatcher alone could make that trade horrid. Why on EARTH trade this guy? Irrelevant of what happens tonight you can tell he's the real deal.

Sheesh.....
   57. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:07 PM (#2549064)
The Brewers knew of Brady's arm strength.
   58. Urban Faber Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:09 PM (#2549070)
Ouch.
   59. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:09 PM (#2549071)
HBP! Bases loaded for Miller w/ one out.
   60. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:10 PM (#2549073)
Is it Cla Time again? Of course, Cla hit the only guy he faced yesterday.
   61. Urban Faber Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:10 PM (#2549074)
Can the Brewers pinch hit here? How healthy is Estrada?
   62. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:11 PM (#2549079)
Damian is hitting .150ish since the ASB. He is slower than a three-legged ox pulling a plow.
   63. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:11 PM (#2549081)
Estrada is healthy enough to PH left-handed, but is a major DP candidate on a messed-up knee. Miller is a track star by comparison.
   64. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:13 PM (#2549085)
DP. Christ.
   65. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:13 PM (#2549086)
CLA, YOU BEAUTIFUL BASTARD!
   66. Urban Faber Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:14 PM (#2549095)
Estrada could have done that.

I suppose Yost won't sub out Braun for defense now, with Counsell out of the game.
   67. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:15 PM (#2549104)
Counsell, like most of the vets, has KILLED the team in September.

Not a single player of any tenure other than Cordero has done anything worth a d#mn the last 4 weeks. It's pathetic.
   68. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:22 PM (#2549130)
Now that we've got the requisite Nix out done with....
   69. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:23 PM (#2549134)
Weeks 3-2 count! yay!
   70. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:24 PM (#2549137)
The 3-2 count is better when it's followed by a walk/hit/HBP, though, Rickie.
   71. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:33 PM (#2549166)
Nobody asked me but if I were calling the shots I would go Branch Rickey and dump everyone over 30.

Deadweight. Ballast. Boat anchors.....
   72. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:33 PM (#2549168)
6-3 Padres. That might be the season.
   73. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:33 PM (#2549170)
Redemption of sorts.
   74. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:38 PM (#2549203)
Operation "Ice floe" to commence Oct. 1st.......
   75. PatrickInTheWoods, Apostate Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:43 PM (#2549230)
I wondered if losing Cameron and Bradley would prove to a reverse maloik.
   76. Mike Emeigh Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:43 PM (#2549233)
Mets lose. Phils win. If the Padres win, they clinch at least a tie for the WC.

   78. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:48 PM (#2549264)
You know Brady has a weak arm when that's twice Fielder has tagged up on him.
   79. Mike Emeigh Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:48 PM (#2549268)
Jumped the gun, actually - the Rockies also have to lose. Two on, one out bottom 9th, Rox down 4-2.

Who won the season series between SD and AZ?
   82. Greg Maddux School of Reflexive Profanity Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:50 PM (#2549281)
Arizona 10-8, I believe.
   83. Mike Emeigh Posted: September 28, 2007 at 10:53 PM (#2549307)
D'backs are in the postseason. Valverde got a couple of gift calls and struck out the side around two walks.

Rivera/pitcher spot/Weeks due up to attempt to save the season.
   85. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: September 28, 2007 at 11:03 PM (#2549369)
What an ignominious finish for Bill. I wish him well with his next team.
   86. NTNgod Posted: September 28, 2007 at 11:04 PM (#2549378)
That's it.

Cubs decide to have a three-game losing streak the final week of the season, and instead of taking advantage, the Brewers decide to match it.

How NL Central.
   87. Andere HUSSEIN Richtingen, Socialist Posted: September 28, 2007 at 11:13 PM (#2549424)
If the Brewers had pulled it off, I would have rooted for them in the postseason. As it is, I still think they are the team to beat in the division in the coming years. I think Harvey's right about Yost -- I do think he deserves some credit for getting the young talent up to this point, but now the Brewers should be thinking about who will get them to the next level, and I don't think Yost is that man.

Now I'm going to call my 93 year-old father-in-law, who saw the Braves' first and last games in Milwaukee, the Brewers' first and last at County Stadium, and the Brewers' first in Miller...
   88. Hammered to the Gap Posted: September 28, 2007 at 11:14 PM (#2549427)
Terrific race, Crew.

They're gonna be dangerous when they get that whole manager-thing figured out.
