I propose that the best non-playoff team from the AL gets to take San Diego's place in the JV playoffs.

Likely matchup in Game 1: Carpenter vs. Peavy.

That should be interesting.

how will facing a team that the Cards should handle affect TLR's postseason teeth-clenching?

I think that if Peavy shuts them down in game 1, it's bear-trap lockjaw time.

The Giants must win this game. Otherwise, the Dodgers will be forced to sweep in order to keep the division as a whole below .500

Go back to SOSH Biff.

It'll be only fitting that the 81 wins Padres play against the Cards, while the 94 wins Red Sox watch the playoffs from the links...

Only those of us who follow the NL West religiously are allowed to make fun of it.

So, that 9 inning shutout by Lawrence certainly brings a lot of question marks into the playoffs.

If a starter has to come out after 5 innings in a close game, or the game is still tied after 10 and your burned your good bullpen guys, would you use him?

Brian Lawrence still walked Yamid Hadd TWICE! He'll be the long man for the Padres. And if he's pitching, the Cardinals are probably up by 5.
