damn missed the first inning and a half.
   2. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2772949)
I agree slightly with TLR about Dave Duncan, he's easily one of the three best pitching coaches in the game, but can't agree with him when he says "all time".

although currently unlike Mazzone, he's been able to do it for multiple teams
   3. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2772953)
I can't believe that people claim Matt Holliday is good defensively he looks absolutely no better than Duncan out there.
   4. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2772960)
well, i saw duncan on monday. holliday looks that bad?
   5. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2772961)
nuts, i missed the first two innings too.
   6. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:26 PM (#2772967)
wow, tight strike zone there.
   7. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:27 PM (#2772969)
Holliday looks like So Taguchi trying to catch a high fly ball ten feet in front of him. I don't know if he makes mistakes or not, but he doesn't look comfortable out there.
   8. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:29 PM (#2772972)
box score says, Barton single, miles walked, albert sacrifice fly, ludwick sac fly to score the run, glaus walked, Ankiel singled to drive in Miles. That is how we scored
   9. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2772974)
so far both Barton and Miles have been on base twice for Albert...that is setting the table, too bad Albert doesn't seem to be too hungry.
   10. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:31 PM (#2772975)
missed all that. also missed all of rick's heroics last night, but caught the highlights at the end of the game. man, that was exciting.
   11. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2772977)
Izturis wth an 8 game hitting streak now.
   12. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:34 PM (#2772980)
the highlights don't do Rick justice in my opinion, I've seen them about 6 times today and it doesn't match the feeling at the time it happened.
   13. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:38 PM (#2772984)
I hate it when the catcher doesn't appeal on that near swing, Matheny was really bad at not asking for an appeal, it doesn't hurt and who knows the ump may give it to you.
   14. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:39 PM (#2772985)
Barton on for the third time this game, in the fourth inning.
   15. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2772986)
sure looked to me like he swung, i can't believe the catcher didn't appeal...
   16. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2772987)
Miles on base for the third time this game. Albert is now up with the bases loaded, so far he's had 2 men on, 2 men on and now bases loaded.
   17. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2772989)
and now it bites them on the @ss ... extends the inning at the very least.
   18. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2772990)
damn just a few feet short.
   19. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2772992)
NUTZ!!!11!!!
   20. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:42 PM (#2772993)
guarantee you some idiot on talk radio is going to say something about how Albert isn't clutch tomorrow.
   21. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:46 PM (#2773004)
pretty looking dp by Albert.
   22. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2773011)
they are talking about detroit right now and how 'disappointing' year they are having, Detroit is 3.5 games out of first place, yes in last place but they are obviously in the hunt.
   23. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:54 PM (#2773015)
ok, that ump is seriously squeezing the zone, how could that not have been a strike?
   24. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2773023)
Ludwick murdered that one...and yet he isn't starting.
   25. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2773026)
holy cats, what a shot! ludwick is teh bomb!!1!1!
   26. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:00 PM (#2773029)
really. tony, what does he have to do? try pitching for a couple of years and come back?
   27. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:01 PM (#2773032)
they just posted troy's batting avg. in may: .056 ... that was before the strikeout.
   28. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:02 PM (#2773036)
I have troy on my fantasy team, in fact he is my only third baseman..he's killing me.
   29. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:03 PM (#2773037)
nice play by Taveras, Ankiel screwed up there though.
   30. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:06 PM (#2773045)
well, it was a helluva catch.
cfb, when you get time you should go to youtube and search cardinals, there's a hilarious clip of this guy doing batting stances of famous cardinals. he had them nailed. ozzie, willie mcgee, tom herr, jack clark, pendleton, albert, you name it.
   31. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:15 PM (#2773055)
Barton finally makes an out.
   32. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:16 PM (#2773058)
I'll look into it, have hardly done much youtubing though.
   33. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:21 PM (#2773066)
i just stumbled on it. i rarely go there.
   34. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:21 PM (#2773069)
woops.
   35. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:22 PM (#2773071)
Albert is missing more of those this year, Glaus had a crappy throw but Albert usually saves those...after the replay I take that back, it was tougher than I thought. The pirouette throw drifted it away from Albert.
   36. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:24 PM (#2773075)
Rolen hit a homerun today.
   37. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:29 PM (#2773091)
great, now we'll hear about what bad trade it was. even though rolen missed what all of april?
   38. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:30 PM (#2773094)
Albert reaches base. 35? consecutive.
   39. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:31 PM (#2773097)
Health is the issue with that trade, if Rolen produces at even .750 ops and plays his usual stellar defense and participates in 140 games, there is almost no way this ends up being good for the Cardinals. The risk is, if Rolen can play that well and that often.
   40. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:32 PM (#2773101)
two men on 1 out, I'm looking on my fantasy league for a replacement third baseman, Glaus right here determines if I drop him.
   41. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2773106)
bases loaded for Ankiel?
   42. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2773107)
interesting. now we got to tack on some runs.
   43. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:34 PM (#2773108)
Any chance Rick makes up for the base running gaffe?
   44. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:35 PM (#2773111)
Arias is having control issues.
   45. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2773113)
frick, frack. A nice looking dp.
   46. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2773114)
aw nuts.
   47. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:37 PM (#2773116)
i am outta here. i'll try to pick it back up when i get home. go cards.
   48. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:39 PM (#2773127)
Ok, just got home. What's going on? Wainwright is obviously pitching well.
   49. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:41 PM (#2773131)
nice play by Ludwick.
   50. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2773140)
Well Barton is playing, has reached base at least three times, so has Miles, Albert has left a ton of men on base but got a single so his on base streak is intact, Wainwright struggled one inning but other than has been good. Francis and Arias have both sucked for the Rockies but Arias got lucky last inning, bases loaded one out with Ankiel up to bat and a ground out dp to the first baseman(good play)

I think Barton has been removed for Schumaker for defensive purposes. Rolen hit a homerun today. Izturis continued his hitting streak.
   51. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2773142)
Oh forgot to say, the ump is squeezing the strike zone.
   52. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:45 PM (#2773144)
The batting stances guy is pretty good.
   53. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:46 PM (#2773149)
Ok, I'm up to speed. Francis sucked in the opener too.
   54. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:46 PM (#2773150)
The ump didn't squeeze that one!
   55. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2773183)
Please no Franklin here, I'm still traumatized.
   56. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:58 PM (#2773198)
McKellen has been pretty good so far this year.
   57. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 10:59 PM (#2773200)
Wow, nice work there by McClellan. He needs a nickname that's easier to type - Lil' Mac?
   58. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:01 PM (#2773214)
Ouch. That hurt - didn't look like a 3B, but I guess that's Coors.
   59. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:01 PM (#2773215)
of course now he messes it up.
   60. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:05 PM (#2773233)
Again with the SF thing....
   61. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:07 PM (#2773239)
NICE JOB FLORES

Seriously
   62. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:08 PM (#2773241)
WTF Albert
   63. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:11 PM (#2773243)
Issy coming in, he's used to pitching in these type of situations.
   64. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:14 PM (#2773244)
The Fireman is here!
   65. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:14 PM (#2773245)
Wow, I totally respect this dude's facial hair choices.
   66. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:17 PM (#2773248)
####, ####, ####. Izzy..................
   67. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:18 PM (#2773251)

   68. Balkroth Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:18 PM (#2773252)
FDSKLSDFSDNMKLJBN SDFM<
   69. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:19 PM (#2773253)
####!!!!!

If I were Wainwright, I would not be speaking to the pen for a while.
   70. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:19 PM (#2773254)
####### christ izzy, at least throw the ####### ball near the plate
   71. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:21 PM (#2773256)
Yes, Albert shat the ####### bed on that play, but that's not an excuse for Izzy sucking.
   72. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:24 PM (#2773259)
And TLR pulls McClellan and Flores at the first sign of trouble, but leaves Izzy in there after he's torched the lead and can't get anyone out.
   73. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:25 PM (#2773260)
Wainwright gets robbed of a good start.
   74. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:25 PM (#2773261)
Well, at least the Cards have 9 LOB!
   75. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:28 PM (#2773263)
Schumaker with a leadoff single, the leadoff spot has been pretty big this game.
   76. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:29 PM (#2773264)
DO NOT BUNT
   77. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:29 PM (#2773265)
Well, at least the Cards have 9 LOB!

yep, I believe 7 belong to Albert.
   78. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:29 PM (#2773267)
I agree, I don't know what the heck the announcers are smoking to even begin to suggest something like sacrificing here.
   79. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:29 PM (#2773268)
?!?!?!?!?!!??!?!?!?!

Really? That was a ####### strike?!?!?!?
   80. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:31 PM (#2773269)
Well, Albert has a chance to redeem his malfeasance in this game here.
   81. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:32 PM (#2773270)
Wow, damn nice play.
   82. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:32 PM (#2773271)
Poor luck there. Up to Ludwick.
   83. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:33 PM (#2773272)
Ludwick is the last chance..
   84. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:33 PM (#2773273)
oh please, please throw a ball in that same spot again.
   85. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:34 PM (#2773274)
damnit, he did and beat Ludwick with it. UGH.
   86. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:34 PM (#2773275)
Ludwick is not clutch.
   87. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:34 PM (#2773276)
there is always tomorrow :(
   88. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:35 PM (#2773277)
Well, that game sucked. Really badly. But I can't imagine the Rox feel too good about this series either, so whatever.
   89. Guts Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:36 PM (#2773278)
there is always tomorrow

I could live with a 3-1 series win.
   90. cardsfanboy Posted: May 07, 2008 at 11:37 PM (#2773279)
I can too, would have preferred for Wainwright to get one of the wins though, the bullpen has blown three victories for him.
