When Manny throws strikes (like he does in the first 2 or 3 innings) he's pretty damn good.

Let's see how long it takes him to unravel tonight.
   2. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:10 PM (#2775113)
Parra is a bad matchup. Cards need to bust out of this minislump, especially Albert.
   3. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:10 PM (#2775116)
And like two seconds after I type that, Albert hits a ball to Chicago.
   4. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:12 PM (#2775119)
boy, that was one of those where you knew right away.
   5. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:12 PM (#2775121)
Ludwick almost makes it back to back.
   6. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:13 PM (#2775122)
dang, a 400 ft out.
   7. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:18 PM (#2775132)
WTF Yadi
   8. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:29 PM (#2775150)
That was ugly, but technically effective.
   9. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:32 PM (#2775155)
Nice job by Rick, by why was Parra pitching him weakly? If there's anyone in this lineup to just blow away as a LHP, it's Rick.
   10. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:36 PM (#2775159)
Yeah, so that was improbable. Yost may want to reconsider Parra's place in the lineup for today.
   11. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:39 PM (#2775166)
If you had told me before the season that Izturis would draw a bases-loaded walk, I would not have believed you - unless you said Ned Yost was involved. /HW
   12. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:40 PM (#2775168)
Sure, I flip the TV on just now.

That's how poorly things are going for the Brewers... that had triple play written all over it.
   13. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:44 PM (#2775186)
NTN:

Missed you in the Yost thread.

Was I unduly harsh? Tried to stick to the facts.
   14. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:47 PM (#2775196)
This is the first game I've actually seen in a week.

Didn't really have anything to add to the Yost thread that hasn't already been said.
   15. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:47 PM (#2775198)
One thing that should be mentioned is that this is the worst possible starting staff for Yost. Ned needs, no demands, guys who are low maintenance. An injury-riddled "ace" and three kids is simply beyond his reckoning. Too much thinking.
   16. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2775208)
Ah NTN, always the gentleman. Can't say anything nice says nothing at all.
   17. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:50 PM (#2775210)
Parra hasn't gone into the 7th this year? That's Wellemeyeresque.
   18. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:51 PM (#2775214)
Yikes. Parra is REALLY wild today. If he hadn't gotten lucky with that DP last inning....
   19. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:52 PM (#2775220)
He's had difficulty locating the ball most of this year, really.
   20. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:53 PM (#2775222)
Parra was so in control last season. Now he's completely out of synch.

Geez....
   21. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 08:55 PM (#2775226)
Glaus is done (hurt), if that swing was any indication
   22. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:02 PM (#2775236)
It appears that that is the case.
   23. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2775256)
Ryan really should have eaten that ball.
   24. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2775258)
Well, it was a nice effort to come up with it...
   25. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2775262)
With Braun hitting, Ryan was doing his 2006 Ryan Braun impression.
   26. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2775264)
2007, I mean.
   27. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2775265)
Fielder is really off this year - any theories?
   28. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:18 PM (#2775268)
Virtually everyone - sans Hart - is off this year on the Brewers.
   29. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:20 PM (#2775270)
Right field, Hall. That OTHER side of the field, please
   30. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2775274)
The shots of (5-7ish) Miles next to (6-6ish) Hart are pretty funny.
   31. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2775277)
Wild pitch! 3-2 STL
   32. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2775279)
Molina is having sort of a rough game defensively
   33. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:23 PM (#2775281)
Come on, this is pathetic. What happened to the defense?
   34. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:29 PM (#2775291)
Parra came back from a 3-0 count? Granted, Schumaker helped out on the final pitch...
   35. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:33 PM (#2775302)
Parra finally looks good, so they pull him.
   36. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:34 PM (#2775307)
Another Cardinal error.
   37. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:36 PM (#2775315)
Now THAT was unusual.
   38. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:37 PM (#2775321)
Jeez, I think Kendall needs some pine tar.
   39. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:38 PM (#2775322)
Ugly game so far.
   40. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:38 PM (#2775323)
Now that busted play earlier really hurts.
   41. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2775334)
That inning could have been a disaster. Really, two of the three errors haven't hurt.
   42. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2775335)
Ugly game so far.

CONCUR.
   43. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:44 PM (#2775343)
Another play to buttress the "ugly game" contention.

Granted, he did have a bat coming his way, too.
   44. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2775351)
Wow, a line drive not at someone?
   45. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2775354)
Thank God for Molina.
   46. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2775355)
I spoke too soon.
   47. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:57 PM (#2775366)
As Wellemeyer approaches 100 pitches, this is where that leaky defense earlier MIGHT hurt St. Louis, since it goosed Wellemeyer's pitch count.

Of course, if the Brewers blow this, forget I said that.
   48. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 09:59 PM (#2775377)
That's not a promising start.
   49. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:00 PM (#2775378)
Thank you, Ryan Braun.

One of my friends was a high school classmate of Braun's, and has reported that the reason he went to Miami was to score as many chicks as possible if the baseball thing didn't work out. I can respect that.
   50. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:02 PM (#2775386)
That worked out remarkably well.
   51. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:03 PM (#2775388)
Ugggghhhh.

Hall fouled off a couple of cookies from Wellemeyer before that grounder, too.
   52. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:10 PM (#2775408)
That was an ugly hit by Skip. Whatever. Need some offense here.

I would pull Miles here and put in Kennedy - oh, too late.
   53. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:10 PM (#2775409)
I'm not sure I get the Miles bunt attempt there.
   54. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:12 PM (#2775418)
It was a very feng shui bunt attempt?
   55. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:14 PM (#2775422)
How many years do these guys have to play together before they look like they have a clue? These endless games of Keystone Cops-like silliness is beyond wearing thin.....
   56. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:36 PM (#2775476)
Oh, so now Kennedy comes in. A tad bit late there, TLR.
   57. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:44 PM (#2775497)
Looks like it's down to Izzy to not totally destroy this lead, which has been meticulously preserved over much defensive inadequacy.
   58. In what respect, Craig K? Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:47 PM (#2775507)
Would someone please break Izzy's arm or something? Anything to keep La Russa from using him!
   59. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:48 PM (#2775512)
Nice catch, sort of, Rick.

Um, two straight first pitch outs? Maybe take a pitch or two, Crew?
   60. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:48 PM (#2775516)
oh doctor!!!
   61. In what respect, Craig K? Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:48 PM (#2775518)
Here comes the walkoff!
   62. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:48 PM (#2775519)
Izzy is incapable of 1-2-3 innings, so that Hardy single was a given.
   63. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:49 PM (#2775522)
That was too good to last. Izzy's cutter is toast, he should stop throwing it until he can figure it out again.
   64. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:49 PM (#2775523)
nuts. izzy is giving me a heart attack again.
   65. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:49 PM (#2775524)
Nice catch, sort of, Rick.

He almost overran it, but was able to reach back, it appeared.
   66. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2775529)
####. At least he didn't go to 3rd.
   67. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2775530)
Another hit. NOW this is an Isringhausen save opp.
   68. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2775531)
mother father!!!!
   69. Jon Egypt Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:51 PM (#2775532)
Dammit, Izzy...why do you always have to make things "interesting"?
   70. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:52 PM (#2775534)
Izzy is driving me crazy!!
   71. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:52 PM (#2775535)
two pitches, two outs, and now this?
   72. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:52 PM (#2775538)
Come ON, it's JASON ####### KENDALL!!
   73. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2775540)
WALK!
   74. Jon Egypt Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2775542)
Great, now instead of putting the ball on a tee, he can't find the plate...
   75. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2775543)
Unreal. Every ####### time he does this.
   76. In what respect, Craig K? Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:53 PM (#2775544)
####### ####### ####### ####### worthless ####### Isringhausen
   77. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2775546)
Izzy needs to be demoted, effective immediately. I can take no more.
   78. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2775548)
Weeks!!!!!!!

OVER~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
   79. Jon Egypt Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2775549)
ugh.
   80. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:54 PM (#2775550)
#### #### #### #### #### you Izzy.

i'll be damned.
   83. Guts Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2775556)
Well, they played like ####, but still 100% of that loss is on Izzy. 100 ####### percent.
   84. In what respect, Craig K? Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:55 PM (#2775557)
BLOW ME ISRINGHAUSEN

####### BLOW ME
   85. dcba Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:56 PM (#2775558)
Challenge trade: Isringhausen for Gagne.
   86. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2775560)
Now that's a helluva way to end a six-game losing streak.
   87. baseballing powerhouse (phredbird) Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2775563)
this is horrible. just horrible. TLR has got to do something with izzy. i'm outta here. just unbelievable.
   88. In what respect, Craig K? Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:57 PM (#2775564)
Now that's a helluva way to end a six-game losing streak.

It's against Jason Isringhausen. It doesn't count.
   89. NTNgod Posted: May 09, 2008 at 10:58 PM (#2775567)
It's against Jason Isringhausen. It doesn't count.

When it's a six-game losing streak, it could have been against Jason Voorhees, for all I care.
   90. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 09, 2008 at 11:01 PM (#2775574)
C'mon Cards fans. In just the last year plus your team has ripped up the Crew's bullpen umpteen times.

It was clear the Crew was looking early on Iz a la the Cards against Turnbow.
