cards threatening in the 3rd.

oh albert. should have stayed at 2nd. at least we got a run ...

I know the Cards fans will break out in indignation, but other than Wainwright I have yet to see a Cards starter with good "stuff".

They are around the plate, go in and out, but I just son't see stuff that should be getting hitters out consistently.

Go ahead. Call me stupid, ignorant, etc.

But I don't see it.

I am stunned the Brewers did a run-down that effectivelt.

And Prince with the nice tag.

Who are these guys?

agreed, Wellemeyer has probably the next best stuff, this is a pitching staff that is winning by scouting reports, defense and adherence to the plan.

Prince may be a bad fielder(no pun intended) but he almost always makes a good play or two against us.

Interesting third strike to Rickie. Hope Suppan gets the same consideration.

I'm pretty sure Albert running on that play was intentional to allow the run to score (Shannon says that the play would have been close if it would have gone to the plate)
   10. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 03:43 PM (#2776795)
If Gwynn runs hards from the beginning he beats it out. Looper surprised him.

for a guy dying to get in the lineup one would think hustle would be automatic.

I will sound old fogeyish but this need to "look cool" at the expense of running hard drives me nuts.

RYAN!!!!

Man, Braun has come alive in this series. Wish he had stayed cold a little bit longer.
   12. cardsfanboy Posted: May 11, 2008 at 03:45 PM (#2776801)
Is Braun officially a Cardinal Killer?
   13. cardsfanboy Posted: May 11, 2008 at 03:49 PM (#2776810)
Have the Brewers ever gotten Pujols out? :)
   14. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 03:58 PM (#2776826)
Yes, Braun earned Cardnial-killer last season, as I recall.

Scarily, Albert does as well against the Reds as the Brewers, and even better agains the Bucs.

LaRue - Infield hit? The universe is temporarily out of alignment!
   16. cardsfanboy Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:07 PM (#2776844)
Larue steals a single away from Barton.
   17. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:10 PM (#2776852)
Geez Suppan. Don't get Fielder killed...
   18. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:11 PM (#2776855)
Everytime Hardy fields a ball, it looks like he's going to kick it or throw it away, yet he never does.
   19. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:14 PM (#2776863)
Last year the top of the 7th doesn't get those three outs.

Don't care what defensive efficiency says or what have you. The Brewer D is improved.
   20. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:15 PM (#2776864)
The Cards' announcers are on their never-ending quest to give props to Simba. Guys - the VC is not the answer. Maybe you haven't noticed, but they don't really put anyone in the hall.
   21. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:19 PM (#2776877)
A LOOOOOOONG out.

Keep tilting at windmills, I say. Simba is my favorite player of all time so it would be nice to see him go in one day, have the ceremony on my birthday (hof ceremony is frequently on my b-day, both Ozzie and Stan were inducted on my B-day)
   23. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:20 PM (#2776884)
Well, except for the almost-HR, pretty good inning by Parisi.
   24. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:22 PM (#2776892)
Simmons belongs in the HOF. It's a baffling omission.
   25. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:24 PM (#2776899)
I'm not saying he doesn't belong - he does - but the odds of him getting in now are microscopic.
   26. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:25 PM (#2776902)
And look, they got Pujols out.
   27. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:26 PM (#2776905)
Riske is the guy who is hurting the Crew.

It isn't discussed but he lost 4 mph on his stuff coming out of training camp.
   28. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:27 PM (#2776910)
Ludwick redeems his day!
   29. cardsfanboy Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:27 PM (#2776911)
Ludwick with a homerun.....I wonder if anyone could have predicted he would have a good season?
   30. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:32 PM (#2776918)
No, Ludwick's season is totally out of the blue.

Torres is the new closer? Um, ok.
   31. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:33 PM (#2776919)
Bottom of the order in the ninth. If Yost takes out Riske, homer withstanding, then he is truly mentally deficient.

I mean, really, what's the point? A guy can't throw 30 pitches over two innings?
   32. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:35 PM (#2776922)
This is the silliness I am talking about. It's Yost need to inject himself into the game. This pitcher per inning bs is just so much nonsense.

He does it because he can.
   33. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:38 PM (#2776928)
Hart stealing?
   34. cardsfanboy Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:38 PM (#2776929)
are the Brewers going to fire Yost tomorrow?
   35. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:39 PM (#2776930)
LaRue can still throw. The Brewers SHOULD know this.

But Yost always "knows".

Great. 2 out walk.

Do people now understand my pain? If Yost just SAT THERE the team would be better off......
   36. cardsfanboy Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:40 PM (#2776931)
horrible defensive play there.
   37. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:40 PM (#2776933)
At least Ned doesn't look particularly happy right now.

Oh, and so that was terrible. I think I'm done for the day.
   38. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:42 PM (#2776939)
Cfb:

No. Melvin INSISTS that Yost is the guy.

It looks as if it would have to be a package deal for Yost to be out. Meaning the owner would have to fire both the GM and manager.

Fine with me. Melvin has his positives but if thinks Yost is a good manager he's developed Alzheimers.

So good riddance....
   39. cardsfanboy Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:46 PM (#2776950)
dang, Glaus got ripped of a homerun. nearly great play by Corey Hart.
   40. cardsfanboy Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:48 PM (#2776955)
No. Melvin INSISTS that Yost is the guy.

The rumors here in St Louis is that Ted Simmons is being prepped to take over, and with the meeting between Yost and Melvin tomorrow I was thinking that was going to be the time to make the change.
   41. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:55 PM (#2776966)
This is where one has to empathize with Yost. You can't throw a hit me fastball to Izturis?

Pathetic.
   42. cardsfanboy Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:56 PM (#2776969)
Yadi with a base hit to put the tying run on first base, it's up to Kennedy now.
   43. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:56 PM (#2776970)
Good for Molina.

Guaranteed that Yost forgot about Molina on the bench.
   44. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:57 PM (#2776971)
Ok, I'm back. Come on, Kennedy, take a HBP or something.
   45. Guts Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:57 PM (#2776973)
Damn, I thought Hall would have screened the play enough. Oh well.
   46. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 04:59 PM (#2776974)
It's a miracle.

Seriously. If Pujols comes up you KNOW Albert takes Mota deep.

Sigh. I can't even enjoy wins. Knowing that each win keeps Yost in place that much longer.
   47. cardsfanboy Posted: May 11, 2008 at 05:00 PM (#2776978)
dang another loss.. another game where it was close in the ninth inning but just couldn't do enough.
   48. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: May 11, 2008 at 05:02 PM (#2776980)
I don't want Simmons. He's a bigger know it all than Yost.

We need somebody with less ego and more practical people skills. Like setting clear expectations and having comsequences.

And having a clue about what's going on. That would be nice.....
