Huh... I always thought that guy was a left hander.

I am going from active indifference to hating this team. They are making highlights unwatchable!

And I hate the ####### phillies. Always hurting McCann. ###### Victorino. I hope someone brains him.
   3. Bicycle RepairMan Posted: July 28, 2008 at 05:56 PM (#2878410)
And I hear Chipper and Hudson to the DL. With JoJo being sent down.

Guess those 2 unwatchable bullpen meltdowns had some positive effect. They dispelled any illusions of competitiveness this year.
Go Freddie Freeman!

He wouldn't be Skip if he didn't hack at the first pitch.
   5. flournoy Posted: July 28, 2008 at 07:12 PM (#2878464)
I bet Clint Sammons won't even outhit Corky Miller.
   6. Portia Stanke Posted: July 28, 2008 at 07:18 PM (#2878472)
Looked like the ump expanded the strike zone on Ludwick for that curve.
   7. Portia Stanke Posted: July 28, 2008 at 07:21 PM (#2878474)
Well, at least he's consistent.
   8. Portia Stanke Posted: July 28, 2008 at 07:47 PM (#2878532)
Nice play by Sammons there.

Leave the room for five minutes and come back to find a 6-0 game. After the psychic damage of the past week, Cards fans needed one of these.
   10. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:14 PM (#2878882)
Whoa, just got in - WTF happened? Did the Braves spot us 6 runs?
   11. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:16 PM (#2878892)
Francouer should be sent to the minors ASAP, he is totally lost at the plate.
   12. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:17 PM (#2878898)
Looper goes 7? Only giving up 2? This is a bizarro Cards game. Bizarro!

I love you.
   13. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:22 PM (#2878914)
If Izturis gets hot and TLR starts playing him everyday again, I might pop a blood vessel.
   14. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:30 PM (#2878961)
So, the Braves....maybe they should go ahead and trade Tex. Unless the picks would be better. Surely no Boras client would take arbitration, right?
   15. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:40 PM (#2879000)
Well, you can count on Villone to be consistant.

Right, it's not like the Braves have been burned in exactly that situation before.

What a shitty game. I have had it with Royce Ring.
   17. Portia Stanke Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:41 PM (#2879007)
Get it all out of your system tonight, Villone.

If it makes you feel better, the Cards were on the receiving end of this, oh, all last week.
   19. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:43 PM (#2879020)

So trade him then? Angels? Yankees, maybe, though probably not anymore.
   20. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:45 PM (#2879044)
You know you suck when TLR won't let you pitch one entire inning with a 10 run lead. Villone probably should have come to that realization like two months ago, though.
   21. Portia Stanke Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:49 PM (#2879067)
Watching the Cardinals' lefty "specialists" come in an walk every other hitter they face makes me long for the days of Rick Honeycutt. Little pains me more than relievers who can't throw strikes when they need them.

Springer to the rescue (as always). Izzy in the ninth, no doubt.
   22. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:50 PM (#2879083)
I miss Jeff Fassero. He could always get out lefties. I also really, really miss Taverez.
   23. Portia Stanke Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:51 PM (#2879090)
I'm sure the Braves would part with him for next to nothing. Wouldn't mind him back after the series ends on Thurs.
   24. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:53 PM (#2879101)
Izzy in the ninth, no doubt.

This is not a save situation, and Izzy is back as the OFFICIAL AWESOME CLOSER STOPPER GUY. So Franklin. Prepare for extra innings.

It doesn't make me feel any better. The Braves were on the receiving end of this all last week too.

What other random relievers have been really effective for the Cards? Al Reyes was awesome in his half year, I was upset when he got hurt. Kiko was great until he got hurt, and then Walt threw him in for no reason.
   27. Portia Stanke Posted: July 28, 2008 at 09:55 PM (#2879111)
My reasoning is that since the ninth is extra-special hard (as we all know), Izzy needs to get in there to remember what it's like before he comes into a real save situation. Not too thrilled with the Braves' broadcasting, as they're not telling us anything about who's warming up.

Ok, sorry. I know how you feel. It could be worse - you could be a Mets fan.

(Just kidding Mets fans, you guys are great!)

Dan and Al have yet to notice there's a game on, but I did come in with a 7 run lead, so that was too be expected.

We are both wrong - it's worse! His release point is off? Really? You think?

There's the immortal TJ Matthews, Juan Acevedo (briefly), Veres (who was always pretty good), Mike James...am I missing anyone?
   31. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 10:02 PM (#2879172)
Veres is a good one. Steve Kline was great for a while. King too, to a lesser extent.
   32. Portia Stanke Posted: July 28, 2008 at 10:03 PM (#2879175)
Flores' was the most surprising performance of the evening.

Flores' was the most surprising performance of the evening.

Villone held down the "hideous LHP relief appearence" slot.
   34. flournoy Posted: July 28, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2879182)
And Mike Crudale.
   35. Guts Posted: July 28, 2008 at 10:04 PM (#2879185)

Very nice.

I see on the ESPN scroll that Tex is being traded, but no details.
