Keep Prior in a bubble, please

After last night’s blaah overall performance (including struggles for the first time this season by Greg Maddux and Jacque Jones running the bases again like Fred Merkle) it would be nice to have some good news.  This isn’t it:

“Two of the Cubs’ “big three” injured pitchers joined them Wednesday at Chase Field.  Kerry Wood and Wade Miller threw on the outfield grass, but Mark Prior didn’t make the short trip from nearby Mesa. Prior came down Monday with a nasty case of food poisoning, which required intravenous treatment” - from Bruce Miles at the Daily Herald.

Good grief.  I have great empathy for someone who gets food poisoning, but is this guy a magnet for every ill imaginable?  This, added to the pneumonia earlier this year, makes me wonder if someone shouldn’t check Mark’s T cell count.  At least Wood appears to be on track.

Rich Hill goes tonight against former Cub Juan Cruz.  Cruz has control issues which the Cubs won’t take advantage of, but he hasn’t gone more than five innings this season, so at least they should get into the Arizona bullpen.

This really is ridiculous. If Prior isn't injury prone, he sure the hell is "incident-prone".

And hilariously, I get a phone call from Moses Taylor discussing how great Juan Cruz looked after Moses botched a text message. Point being, this team is on the way to the sewer and quick.

Is Miles a paramedic on the side or something? Why wouldn't Prior just go to a hospital?

Of course, with the precedent set last December, this means that Prior will be out an additional 2 months.

Mark Prior will never pitch in the major leagues again. You read it here first.

I think the NJ Star Ledger reported that back in '03 along with his arm amputation story.

He's rapidly approaching Jose Silva's bad luck reputation...
