Best Cubs first baseman of all time?

Combined peak and career? Definitely.

I think you could make a case for Ernie Banks. He played more game for the Cubs than Anson, and didn't pad his career stats in the late 1870s NA.

Best Cubs first baseman of all time?

I dunno. Did he ever lead the league in hits for a decade?

What is the deal with those old threads? Not only has much of the information vanished from everyone's posts (which I've noticed before), but people seem to be responding to posts and posters that aren't even there. Why have entire posts disappeared? That 1903 thread is practically unreadable.

They got chewed up with one the BBTF changeovers. Some of them may still be correctable, as we had some of the threads saved or archived. Need to work on it when I get some spare time.

Except Banks' greatness lies with his shortstop years, not his first base ones.

I had a similar conversation with (I believe) cardsfanboy just recently.
