With almost 100% support, John Clarkson was deemed head and shoulders above the other five hurlers from this group.

Thanks to OCF for help with the tally!

I'm surprised that Galvin trailed Caruthers, when the latter finally was inducted into the HoM decades after Pud made it.

Keefe wins that tiebreaker pretty handily.

The average voter placement of each of Keefe, Radbourn, and Spalding was slightly worse than 3rd. Here's the full ranking on that: the first number after each name is the average voter ranking and the second number is the standard deviation of that ranking.

Clarkson  1.12  0.32
Keefe
. . 3.08  1.35
Radbourn  3.08  1.02
Spalding  3.48  1.27
Caruthers 4.80  0.94
Galvin
.  5.44  0.75

With various ways to go with the 2-3-4 logjam and the sense that the top-to-bottom differences in this group weren't large, the consensus scores were lower than most of our other positional rankings. The three people listed with scores of 78 had the highest possible consensus score (and were identical to each other). The mean score was 66.

Keefe wins that tiebreaker pretty handily.

What is the tie-breaker?
   5. OCF Posted: March 09, 2009 at 08:20 PM (#3097116)
Officially, there isn't a tie-breaker because there isn't a need for one. These players are all in the HoM, and this vote doesn't change that. Feel free to invent your own for whatever your own purposes are.

For one item that can't be read off the vote chart above, we have that Keefe was placed higher than Radbourn on 15 of the 25 ballots, with Radbourn ahead of Keefe on the other 10.

Also 12 people placed Keefe in the top 2, but only 6 voters had Radbourn that high.
More people believed Radbourn was a top-4 guy, of course.
