Very good player and first name. Has absolutely no chance of garnering a single vote.

Gave me one of my biggest thrills at a game. My dad took me to this game (Yankees vs. Milwaukee 8/12/72. The yahoos around me were booing when Blomberg was walked intentionally in the seventh, but I said "it's just another run when Callison hits a homer." And he did.

Very similar to Felipe Alou at least in terms of the numbers. Who knew?

Rhymes with Allison, who was better.

Couldn't help myself, Paul, I had to rearrange into the 5-7-5 brand of haiku

Hey Cliff...I was at that game (sweet, at least somebody remembers it...:)...What bugged me about Callison was that when the Yankee got him in that PTNL deal (turned out to be Jack Acher (as we called him)...quite a loss!)...fans were shocked to find a suddenly bespecled and worn out looking Johnny Callison that was misjudging fly balls.

Plus his 1-15 start didn't help.

Didn't Callison hit a late inning HR to break up a pitcher's duel in a '60s All-Star game. Maybe even a walk off?

Bob Allison had the catch in the World Series.

1964. Had it not been for a famous collapse down the stretch, Callison would have been the NL MVP.

And by golly, there in the 1964 all-star game box score: None other than Bob Allison, batting 5th for the AL behind Mantle and Killebrew and ahead of Brooksie.
