Favorite Baseball Stuff

My 50s and 60s baseball cards, lovingly purchased a pack at a time from my allowance and later, paper route money.
I only have one autograph—Sudden Sam McDowell spoke at the PA Paper Boy of the Year banquet (I was Jr. Paper Boy of the Year for the Norristown Times Herald—woo hoo).  He had to leave early to be with his wife for the birth of a baby—It must have been Jack, since he was born in Jan. ‘66.  I followed him out and I shaking like a leaf.  Nothing memorable, he just signed a postcard that I had.  We also got to tour the Heinz pickle factory which was fun.
I went through my wife’s aunt and uncle’s attic about 10 years ago and picked up some programs from the 40s and 50s—including a 1949 Philadelphia A’s yearbook.

Screenname History

My French teacher in high school called me Edmundo, often calling my name in a sing-song voice when I was goofing off.

Bio

Born in Cincy, huge Reds fan as a child, from age 2 according to my mom.  Remember Vada Pinson as a rookie but not FRobbie as a rookie.
Moved to Philly in ‘61 days after the Reds lost the WS.
Converted within a year to being a Phillies fan (young team on the rise) much to my one uncle’s chagrin.
Suffered unbearable heartache in ‘64 as a 13 yo.
Couldn’t ever hit a fastball but was a pretty good control-type pitcher in LL.
Spent 5 years in KC during the Boone-Muser years.  Didn’t expect KC to have any years more dismal than them but I was wrong.
Married for 24 years, 2 boys with absolutely 0 athletic talent, unless being mathletes count.  My wife is tiny but don’t **** with her.  1 boy at William and Mary, the other at Emerson.
Joel Youngblood is the only major leaguer with whom I share a birthday.  Buddy Bell is one day older.  I followed Gus Bell as a little Red fan and I have the “pleasure” of watching David Bell recently with the Phillies.
