White Sox-AL Central Fan.

could there be a better system in place than the current one?

I’m thinking that each team opens a school of baseball, and has thier guys isolated in there, hooked up to Rocky 4 machines that make them physical monsters, on special diets and sleep rotations with league approved vitamin injections, doing eye exercises and taking batting practice in scientifically timed intervals. Track every single movement their body makes every day with sensors to determine the mechanics of thier movements when they are doing anything.

Then, put them in intersquad games 3 times a week against players of various skill and ability specifically designed to make sure that by the time they are ready for the majors, they’ve seen every kind of pitch and know as much about every pitcher they would face as to what to expect. Use computers to track and purposely exploit every hitter’s weakness during practice until he has none. Create virtual reality helmets to simulate pitch recognition situations. Use robots simulating situations to help players practice.

Run the entire place like a University on a Campus in a remote town. Use scientists instead of former major leaguers to teach them how to play.
