As a demanding youth, I listened to the Blue Jays on the radio since they were better than the Tigers.  Despite that, I now root only for the Tigers as a franchise, having realized when the early ‘90s Blue Jays broke up that it was the particular group of players that mattered to me.  Since then, I pick out a few teams to pull for each season, depending on how many of my favorite players are on their rosters.  When I root for the Yankees one year and the Red Sox the next, then, I’m not a fan of either franchise; I’m just a fan of their players.
