Favorite Baseball Stuff

My office is a museum of photos, posters, cards, collectables, statues, baseballs (which are stacked on black PVC pipe couplings, which are great and cheap stands..visit your hardware or plumbing supply store and check them out)....

My favorite is a chair and a brick from the original Comiskey Park, which I loved as a kid...and ticket stubs to games 6 and 7 of the World Series, which I of course never got to use....

The rest are the memories, expereinces and stories I have gathered over the years...getting drunk with Don Drysdale and Loren Brown in Cleveland...shooting pool and drinking beer with Max Patkin in Clinton, Iowa (Max should be in the HOF IMHO)...hanging with Jimmy Piersall at a ball game....interviewing Bill Veeck and spending hours with him...even my efforts to talk him into acquiring Ron Blomberg....and many, many more…

Screenname History

I did a research paper years ago in grade school on how the 1919 scandal changed the face of baseball at that time...read and studied more and more about Shoeless Joe (and Buck Weaver, who my father knew)...fell in love with the story and the myth...and grew more to believe there is substantive difference between Joe and Buck’s performance and ban from the other six...further, I believe that there is reasonable doubt about the depth of guilt of those two, and that neither of them (nor the other six, for that matter) were given due process in the matter of the banning...So, I chose Shoeless Don as my monicker, which also fits the fact that I was a poor country kid who often didn’t have shoes to wear....and still often don’t choose to....
