I may have mentioned that I'm scoring games for BIS this year. I'll be at Durham Saturday night, Zebulon for all five games SU-TH, and then back to Durham next Friday.

Tranny time:

The Blue Jays outrighted Jason Phillips to Syracuse. C John Schneider was placed on the DL.
Norfolk sent P Blake McGinley back to extended spring training and activated INF Juan Tejeda from the DL.
P Dan Giese was promoted from Reading to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and the Red Barons placed P Ben Shaffar on the DL.
C Raul Chavez cleared waivers and was assigned to Bowie by the Orioles.
P Ryan Feierabend was sent to extended spring from San Antonio (that's got to be some kind of injury, because he was pitching very well), and C Tom Gregorio went the other direction.
Wichita released INF Randy Ruiz.
Cincinnati recalled OF Quinton McCracken from his rehab assignment at Sarasota. The SReds activated OF Jeremiah Piepkorn from the DL, added P Carlos Alvarado from extended spring, and sent P Habalito Hernandez there.
Lakeland placed P Ed Clelland on the DL, added P Jermy Rodriguez from extended spring.
Kannapolis signed INF Randy Blood as a free agent and added INF Jose Rodriguez from extended spring.

Altoona bombs Reading 12-2. Adam Boeve had 2 hits in 5 ABs - and saw his BA drop to .457. He's got an OBP/SLG of .486/.629. He'll be 26 in mid-June, by which time I hope he'll be in Indy, or maybe even Pittsburgh.

B.J. Upton hit a game-winning grand slam with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th to give Durham a 5-4 win over Toledo. Former Bulls closer Lee Gardner walked the bases loaded and Toledo put in Mark Woodyard to face Upton. Upton hit his first pitch out to win it. Of course, he'd also made an earlier error that led to an unearned run. It was also the largest crowd in DBAP history, 11,060.

On Upton's error, there was someone on the raysbaseball.com forum listening to the game and had this to say:
Upton's error was on a tough play.....he made a nice stop deep in the hole but sailed the throw from short left. Tough play, good range, but bad throw.

Still, 5 errors in 9 games, and from my count a .911 fielding percentage.
