So what's the deal with Loewen? He's young for his level, sure, but his numbers -- except for his K-rate -- look very pedestrian. Is he being pushed too fast? Is he a victim of bad defense? Is he not as good as his rep?

I've never heard of either of these guys. Now I feel like a bad person.

Gio is already in Reading? That's pretty impressive, starting at AA during one's age 20 season.

Loewen is also a strong GB pitcher. He's a fantastic prospect.

Yep...good K rate combined with great GB/FB ratio = a ton of potential.

Loewen will go as far as his command will take him. He's definitely got work to do.

I'd love to see this pitching matchup but can't make it tonight.

Loewen also shut down Team America ( fcuk yea! ) for 3 innings in the WBC

but then, so did Rodrigo Lopez

Apparently Dan Haigwood is pitching for Reading tonight.

That's still a great matchup.

Haigwood was not sharp, giving up four runs on four hits and 5 walks over 3 innings.

Loewen, on the other hand, has a no-hitter going through 7 innings.

Too bad it has been pre-empted on the radio by Reading Royals hockey.

Bryan Hansen broke up the no-hitter with a double in the 8th.

He was removed after finishing the 8th, with 12 strikeouts, one hit, and no walks.

Loewen also finished with 11 groundouts, so the Phils only managed to get two balls out of the infield on him. Not too shabby...

what a game by Loewen. makes me wish I'd braved the thunderstorms in the area to see it.
