Salt Lake City (PCL, AAA): Sent 3B Dallas McPherson to Los Angeles (A).

When did this happen?
   5. Mike Emeigh Posted: May 09, 2006 at 02:53 PM (#2011198)
McPherson was promoted after last night's game.

Oh, and they're just called "Salt Lake", not "Salt Lake City".

According to The Fan Melky Cabrera has been called up from AAA. He was hitting .385/.430/.566.

Link to McPherson promotion. (Yes, I know they are just called "Salt Lake").

McPherson was promoted after last night's game.

Hmm. This doesn't appear on the Angel website, the Yahoo Sports Angel page, the Fox Sports Angel page, the ESPN Angel page, nor has it been reported in the LA Times or OC Register, and Dallas McPherson still appears on the Salt Lake roster at minorleaguebaseball.com.

So if this has happened, you have a major scoop!
   10. Los Angeles Waterloo of Black Hawk Posted: May 09, 2006 at 03:00 PM (#2011209)
Apparently the Deseret Morning News has the scoop. Still odd that no one else has picked up on it yet; was Kotchman sent down?
   11. Mike Emeigh Posted: May 09, 2006 at 03:02 PM (#2011210)
Columbus Dispatch article. Melky played RF last night, and Mark Newman was there. I'm sure The Fan has it right.

Don't know, but it's also possible that Murphy will be sent back to Salt Lake, with Figgins moving to CF and McPherson taking over at 3B.

The Salt Lake Tribune also has it.

Did Oakland ever make a corresponding roster move to replace Milton Bradley? I have them at a 24 man roster.

They seem to be waiting for either Kendall to drop his appeal or the league to rule on it before they call up Jeremy Brown.
   16. ess eff Posted: May 09, 2006 at 03:24 PM (#2011245)
You've also got a scoop on Jeremy Brown. This morning's paper had it still as rumor but not a done deal. The A's want Kendall to take the suspension now while Bradley is out, but they also want an expedited telephone appeal, in case there was the frequent one-game-reduction-on-appeal built in.
   17. Mike Emeigh Posted: May 09, 2006 at 03:28 PM (#2011251)
Sacramento Bee article (might be RR). The report actually is that Brown is "expected" to be activated today, but the RiverCats have already called up Castillo.

Sometimes it's easier to find out about moves from the minor league papers than it is from the major league papers.

ESPN is reporting Brown's promotion now.

And Melky, too. Nothing on McPherson yet.

FWIW - Manny Delcarmen to Pawtucket, Mike Holtz to the RS.
   21. Los Angeles Waterloo of Black Hawk Posted: May 09, 2006 at 06:49 PM (#2011497)
A commenter on my blog says that Rotoworld is reporting that McPherson has been called up and Kotch has (finally) been put on the DL due to having mono. ESPN has it as well.

This might be Dallas' last chance with The LAA, at least until next year, or if other injuries come along in '05. Better have a good two weeks, kid.

Mike Holtz, eh? I saw him earlier this year; he still has nothing with which he can get RHB out consistently. Mike Myers Ultra Lite.

The Cardinals have called-up Tyler Johnson from Memphis (Ponson to the DL). Johnson's the beneficiary of Ricardo Rincon's misfortune.

I cannot wait to attend my first minor league game this year...the Brooklyn Cyclones! The Mets loss tonight was painful...but on the bright side...pretty soon there starting pitching staff will be equivalent to double A team.null

Update on Jeff Clement:

Clement had surgery to remove a bone chip from his left elbow and to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He's back in Seattle to start his rehab program, and will probably be back in late June/early July.

I don't know where I read this, but both Diory Hernandez and Holt ( the DP combination for Myrtle Beach ) are on the DL.
checked the box scores for the lst few days, and they have been held out. Can anyone confirm this?

Terrence Long released?!?!?!? NO!!!!

He'll be a Royal by the end of the week.

That's right. Holt injured his shoulder, and Hernandez has a broken hand.

Tim Ireland firing.

Ireland was suspended by the PCL for 10 days after the incidents in the May 3 game with Round Rock, which I commented upon in my last Minor League Diary. If you haven't listened to the broadcast clip linked by Derek Zumsteg at USS Mariner, you should.

   35. Der Komminsk-sar Posted: May 11, 2006 at 08:28 PM (#2015622)
What I know about minor league managers and coaches is probably next-to-nothing (given my outsider position, if nothing else) - but Ireland has long struck me as someone who would be a good get for an organization - particularly in a assistant role (multi-lingual and supposedly good at judging talent, working with players on fielding and baserunning, and commanding the respect of a team).
   36. Mike Emeigh Posted: May 12, 2006 at 10:03 AM (#2016472)
I was hoping/expecting that Jamey Newberg would write something about the Ireland move today, but with the Rangers' other move (the Guzman-Rojas for Sinisi-Hudgins trade) taking precedence he didn't. But he did say this:

Mike Boulanger will be in charge of overseeing those things, having replaced Tim Ireland, whom the Rangers fired yesterday as Oklahoma manager. More on that next time.

I'll be waiting. There's got to be more to this story than meets the eye - teams do not typically issue press releases with this much detail when minor league managers are reassigned, and the timing of this move is especially odd, given the suspension.
