Stuff:

INF Martin Prado is about to be called up from Mississippi to Atlanta to replace Marcus Giles, who has a thumb injury. The Braves are missing 3/4 of their starting infield, as Giles joins Renteria and Chipper on the sidelines.

Ottawa added OF Josh McCurdy to its roster earlier this week.

Toledo received P Chris Spurling, optioned when Todd Jones was activated.

Cincy recalled P Brian Shackelford from Louisville, and sent P Mike Burns down. P Mike Gosling went up, pitched in one game, then went right back down.

Houston added P Dave Borkowski from Round Rock. Travis Driskill was activated by the Express to replace him.

Texas added INF Drew Meyer from Oklahoma. He was replaced on the RedHawk roster by INF Derek Wathan, acquired from Colorado for future considerations.

Travis Ishikawa, who earned a brief trip to the majors when Lance Niekro was placed on the bereavement list, returned to Connecticut.

I wonder if Shoemaker was hurt or just considered fodder. I don't think he's anything special, but he certainly merited (in my mind) an opening day roster spot in high-A.

So, since I'm asking all sorts of questions in this forum lately - does anyone know why Cameron Blair (Pit) is on the restricted list? (see BA)

Expect Peter Moylan to be sent to AAA Richmond to make room for Prado on the Atlanta roster. I think that will probably mean someone has to go from the AAA roster then, but I'm not entirely clear on those rules.

Indians recall P Brian Slocum from Buffalo to replace Betancourt. Guthrie may get a call in a couple of days, since he just started the other night.
