18-year-old Tommy Mendoza, who is one of the youngest players in the MWL (one week older than Justin Upton, FWIW), went the distance for Cedar Rapids in a 4-3 victory over Fort Wayne. The Kernels' Larry Infante hit a two-out, two-run shot in the last of the ninth off Wizards' closer John Madden (no relation to the other one) for the win. Fort Wayne's Joel Santo pitched one batter into the ninth, allowing two runs and three hits including Mark Trumbo's ninth longball, and Nick Hundley hit a pair of solo shots for the Wizards.
