Bannister was lifted after two hitters, replaced by Ryan Cullen. That can't be good news.

Definitely not good news: Bannister threw only five pitches.

Lerew can't be starting. He is with the Atlanta club

He was still being listed as the probable this morning. I fixed it; neither Web site has an updated probable.

Still one hit and one walk allowed by Garza through 5, along with 10 Ks.

I'm listening to the Fisher Cats' announcer talking about Garza. Garza just picked up his 11th K - on a changeup. Announcer: "That's just unfair".

Garza leaves after 7 2/3 innings: 100 pitches, 1 hit, 2 BB, 13 K.

Wow.

Good day for some TTO guys: Mike Hessman is 2-for-3 (so far) today with a pair of longballs. That makes him 12-for-106 on the season with 9 homers, 2 doubles, 1 single, 18 walks and 36 strikeouts. Similarly, Simon Williams hit 2 homers for Palm Beach in their 17-0 destruction of Fort Myers - making him 10-58, 1 double, 5 homers, 11 walks, 31 strikeouts.

Pawtucket at Buffalo postponed due to rain. Abe Alvarez has had his last three scheduled starts rained out; he has not pitched since May 7.

Nice CGSO for Hayden Penn:

7 IP, 5 H, 1 BB, 7 K.

1.48 ERA and 29/11 K/BB on the season.

The O's need a starting pitcher for the 23rd against Seattle, and I think this start ensures that Penn will be the guy.
