I don't know what roster move Charlotte made to make room for DeLosSantos; they had 25 players listed last night, and the transaction info isn't up-to-date.

I think they sent infielder Pedro Lopez down to AA Birmingham.

They did, but apparently the folks in the press box at S-WB didn't get the word.

I have to remember to check Birmingham's Web site when stuff like this happens; they do an outstanding job of keeping the transactions up-to-date, plus they post game notes.

I have no idea what is going on with Quiroz; he has been bouncing on and off the active roster for a week.

Hagerstown (SAL, A): DL’d OF Fernando Martinez.

What's wrong with him now?

"INF Rob Sasser retired. "

A new Moonlight Graham.
He got 1 ML AB at age 24 or 25, went 0-1 and never made it back to the show in the next 10 years.

Adam Greenberg is on track to end with an even stranger career line.

The only pitch he saw at the ML level ended his season. He was released by the Cubs a few weeks back. I don't know what he's doing with himself now.

"I don't know what he's doing with himself now."

Getting treatment for some type of vertigo syndrome the HBP gave him i think.

Adam Greenberg signed with the Dodgers organization, and is playing at Jacksonville. We had this transaction about a week ago. I don't mean to sound egotistical or anything, but I think that between myself, Der Komminsk-sar, Alex Gordon's #1 Fan, MM1f, and a couple of other people who contribute every so often, we're doing as good a job of keeping up with the flow of players through the minors as is being done anywhere on the Internet.

Mike, I am continually astonished at your diligence in tracking this information.

The work is much appreciated even if I can't keep up with this stuff as much as I'd like.

My boss's nephew, Gary Burnham, is with Reading this year. He played two or three year of AAA ball and spent last year at Bridgeport in the Atlantic League. He's gotta be about 30 or so now. Are there many players that age in AA?

Gary's in the third generation of that family that played in the minor leagues. He had a brother that played for a couple of years in A ball, as well.

According to the Nashville game notes, P Rick Helling has been recalled from his rehab assignment by the Brewers after two starts. The Brewers have not announced a starter for Tuesday's game with Detroit, and although Carlos Villanueva (whose turn it would have been) pitched well in his first start for Milwaukee against the Reds on Wednesday, it is likely that Helling will get the call on Tuesday.

Burnham is 31. Reading has two other age-30s, Allen Davis and Tim McClaskey.

There are a handful of AA teams that have a player or two who is 30 or older; for example, Michael Coleman, at age 30, is playing regularly for Montgomery, and Juan Carlos Muniz, also 30, started this season in A-ball before being promoted to Carolina. It's not common, but not all that unusual either. Reading's unique in that they have a lot of older players on the team, not just the 30s but a number of 28 and 29 YOs as well. That's more an indictment of Philadelphia's player development system than anything else.

Modesto (Cal, Adv A): Activated P Darren Clarke from the DL.

Well, an injury would help explain his +18 at the Open.

Thanks, Mike. That's this Michael Coleman? He's the guy who smashed Bryce Florie's face with a pitch, IIRC.

No, that was Ryan Thompson.

Mike I don't know where you get your information, you may only use official sources, but this Phillies board often has threads that are full of news that's hard to find...e.g. the current thread about the newly posted Batavia roster, and the rolling thread about draft picks being signed.
   19. Mike Emeigh Posted: June 18, 2006 at 07:10 PM (#2067988)
I get my information from any place I can find it, once I determine that the source is reliable.

They did, but apparently the folks in the press box at S-WB didn't get the word.

It took them some time to realize the white, right-handed pitcher on the mound wearing no. 32 was not Javier Lopez as well.

Erie (EL, AA): DL’d INF Tony Giarratano (wrist). Received INF Adam Haley from Tennessee (Diamondbacks’ organization - trade)

In return for Haley, the Diamondbacks received 22 year old RHP Jake Baxter (2005 - 25th round) who has been assigned to the Low A South Bend Silver Hawks
   22. William K. Posted: June 19, 2006 at 03:50 AM (#2068271)
Also, to fill Haley's roster spot, 24 year old RHP Jon Castellanos joined the Tennessee Smokies from extended spring training.
