The reports out of Miami are that pitchers Franklyn German and Todd Wellemeyer are being DFA'd to make room for Martinez and P Taylor Tankersley, recalled from Carolina after Wednesday's game although not immediately activated.

Anyone have any good information on how Guzman projects? I've read the "manny ramirez" bat comparisons, and he's too big (6'6") for SS. And while his bat is supposedly his strongest skill, he's k'd at roughly 1/4AB the last two years and only has ~13 XBH of 57 this season. Overrated?

I don't have any "good" information. What I've heard is that (a) he's not good defensively at any position, so his bat will have to carry him and (b) his bat is not all that quick, and is slower this year than last (he's also bulked up some, apparently).

Allen Davis was promoted from Reading to Scranton, but cannot play for Scranton until Sunday because of a 3-game suspension he received from a May 26 brawl with Reading against the Connecticut Defenders (in which 4 R-Phils and 5 Defenders were ejected, none of whom were Allen Davis).

James Holcomb has hit the DL for Arkansas and Nick Green will make the start on Saturday. Green is up from Rancho Cucamonga.

Lots of moves in the Royals organization today.

Omaha - Sent 3B Mark Teahen to Kansas City; received IF Andres Blanco from Kansas City; activated P J.P. Howell from the DL; granted P Adam Bernero free agency (in his contract he can elect free agency if not up by June 1).
Wichita - Recived OF Dee Brown from Omaha; received P Neal Musser from Omaha; suspended P Brian Bass for conduct detrimental to the team (the rumor is he wore a cap that said "f___ the Royals" after being outrighted off the 40 man roster).

Rangers released Rashad Aldridge (who was coming off a hot spring training and strong '05), Cubs cut Adam Greenberg.

Kind of a funny note about Casanova:

In 1996, Casanova was traded from San Diego to Detroit in a forgettable deal involving six fringe players. One of the players who went the other way was a young outfielder named Todd Steverson - now Stockton's manager. Must be a weird feeling to manage a player for whom you were once traded.

What I've heard is that (a) he's not good defensively at any position

He looked very awkward at first base when I saw him when I saw him in Albequerque a couple weeks ago. Just one game I saw, but he didn't look good.

"Recived OF Dee Brown from Omaha"

THAT Dee Brown? I thought he was long gone.

Nope. He's still very much around.
