Remember when Jason Arnold was highly coveted?

I always love seeing the retirements of players, esp. those who were supposed to be something.

I wonderwhat theyre thinking as they end it

FWIW, Arnold was ripping it up this year (altho all the way down in AA)

Kyle Bono retired as well. BA has new tranys up.

I was a big Arnold proponent when he came out of college ... oops.

BA's list is nice, but it would be really, really useful if they'd put the level to which each player was assigned (or from which he was released).

There are lots of things they could do to improve it (add dates, track IR, etc...) - for now, I'll take what I can get.

From the BA list:

Brewers:
Placed LHP Justin Thompson on restricted list

That's odd for a guy who retired to be placed on the restricted list rather than the voluntarily retired list.

Reds:

Placed RHP Edward Valdez on suspended list

So he did get penalized for his role in the fight as well, although he doesn't appear to have missed a start. Chattanooga's Web site is one of the weaker ones.

Bonos even more surprising since he was well-regarded out of college and hasn't been in the pros that long.

Wonder whats with them UCF pitchers

When you can't throw strikes consistently...

Mike,

Any idea what the story is on Voyles? He had pitched well at the start of the season, then hurt himself while warming up for a start and went on the DL. Word was that he was close to returning, Memphis is in dire need of starting pitching and now he's released?

Anyone know whatever happened to Colt "I threw 100 MPH in High School" Griffin?

He was doing poorly and not one has talked about him for year, but he was not doing "cut a first round draft pick" poorly. Was he cut? Retired? Injured?
   11. ess eff Posted: May 26, 2006 at 03:52 PM (#2038502)
Griffin had rotator cuff surgery in August and is still rehabbing from that. Still Royals' property, AFAIK.

Nope. I suspect that the Cards are about to shuffle some pitchers in the organization, though.

No word yet on the corresponding roster move, but the Weavers are taking their gig to Los Angeles.

Thanks, ess eff.

Certainly a step down from Carnegie Hall, but I guess Pete Seeger has lost a notch of his fastball since he turned 87.

Arnold won seven of his ten games his first year in pro ball, a 1.50 ERA, allowing just 35 hits in 66 innings while striking out 74 batters.

RHP Enrique Gonzalez called up from Tucson by Arizona Diamondbacks and will start against the Reds on Sunday. RHP reliever Casey Daigle sent down to Tucson.

I believe Sydney Ponson is coming off the DL tomorrow, so someone will be finding a home in Memphis...

At least Aubrey's latest injury is not to his back, again.

There was a similar report in a Richmond paper (based on a quote from a RBrave player who had reportedly talked to Smith), but it hasn't been confirmed yet.
