Ernie Young hit his 300th career minor-league homer today.
4 for 11, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, .364/.385/.545
3 Games, and no injuries!
And the Atlanic leaguer that walked Juan Gone? Brian Whitaker of the Lancaster Barnstormers.
From what I noticed, I think Mark DiFelice struck Juan out.
I assumed this was coming, but couldn't find confirmation - Tennessee's Web site and local coverage are a little weak, and Tucson's Web site is run by MiLB.com, which means the content is pretty generic. Owings had exactly one bad outing at AA (a game at Five County where his pitches were jumping out of the strike zone).
The Diamondbacks have some young guns a comin'. You hear about the position players like Quentin, Drew, and Upton, but you have Owings, Mock (who seems to have righted himself a bit after a slow start), Ohlendorf, Bass, Smith, Nippert, the Gonzalezes (Enrique and Edgar), Chico... you'd have to think they'll get two, maybe three rotation starters out of that group. Not to mention Tony Pena (not related to the other one), who has been lights out this year after being converted to the bullpen.

Heard it on the Tucson Sidewinders radio broadcast. It's officially announced now.
(http://www.azcentral.com/sports/diamondbacks/articles/0613dbnotes0613.html) It's a triple move with Eduardo Baeza moving up from South Bend to Lancaster to take Smith's spot.
The D'Backs also picked up some nice (though risky) arms in the draft as well.
Albuquerque has a full roster plus a starter already on the inactive list; they've been playing roster games there for about two weeks now. I'm guessing they're going to have to move somebody soon.
Baeza was tonight's scheduled starter for South Bend; I presume they'll try to fill from the bullpen, or promote someone from extended spring.

He did, and they did. See the header.

Phil Stockman to A-town. No corresponding to move to fill his (and Mullens) spots or to make room for him in the bigs that i can find
Anthony Lerew was activated from the DL. Mullen was released to make room for Chuck James, who was on rehab but was recalled, then optioned. Rehabbing players don't take up a roster spot.

Stockman was recalled to replace Chris Reitsma, who is being DL'd.

Check out milb.com's Around The Minors (video, not audio - the story on him and this site begins at around the 5:15 mark).
Or maybe he didn't mean it that way but i want to read it that way.

This quote is interesting:

Todd Self, released this year by both the Mets and Yankees, has signed to play with Shreveport in the American Association in indy ball.

Brad Nelson was outrighted to Huntsville.
He was already there; he was just taken off Milwaukee's 40-man.

But a great name for a Huey Lewis album.
I think hes from around there.
I thought he was a nice AAAA 1b/of bat before this year. Not as much power as youd expect from a AAA 1b/of but more avg and OBP.
Totally imploded this year. Like .150 btw AA and AAA with a bunch of Ks....wonder what happened
Yeah, but this seemed as good a place as any to mention it.
I defended Self in some thread before the season started as Aldrete-like (I guess that would make him Rich Aldrete) - but, woof, not a good season.
