UPDATE: Baseball America - Draft 2007: First-Round Review
“I’m just glad it promotes the sport,” Gammons said after a Wednesday night rehearsal in The Milk House with fellow Draft commentators Karl Ravech and Steve Phillips. “There were years when the clubs would announce their first-round picks, then not tell you for a week and a half who was taken in the other rounds.
“It just shows that baseball really got what they never got before, which is to promote young talent. David Stern did that with the NBA. Bud Selig is doing that now, with guys like (Jose) Reyes and (David) Wright. They said, ‘Wait a minute, we should be selling our young players, too.’ Throw a guy like (Grady) Sizemore in there, too. Today’s group of players under 27 is the best of any in that age group in the last 35 years. Without a doubt. Now young talent is really being showcased.”

I'm going out on a small limb: Smoker to the White Sox, Poreda to the A's.

now I'm praying for the Tigers to draft him.
If their is anyone who'd draft him- offer slot money and say fine, I'll take next year's #28 pick - i'm guessing it'd be Beane

What? Where?
I was wondering what a woman was doing there. Where's Bill Singer when you need him?

Hopefully Harvey lasts a couple more picks.
Off getting blasted and insulting Asian women?
And they even tried to get rid of him already.
He's wimpier than me!
(I'm 5'11.5/165)
Oh wait, the Twins already have him.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Yankees take a hitter - someone like Middlebrooks or Jackson - instead of Harvey.
Twins take Ben Revere. Big surprise, although not that unusual for the Twins to go for someone not especially well known. Small kid, very fast, can hit for some power even though he's just 5'9, 165.

Yes, I really think that.
I think the Tigers did the right thing for their team, and I'd love it if I were a fan of theirs. Doesn't mean I'm not upset that he got so close to the Yankees.
I thought there was a small chance he would slip down in the draft and head to Georgia.
Now i've got to pray for Kevin Rhoderick.
And FWIW, most reports have Revere at 170 pounds, not 155.
I want the Twins to take that Okie State OF'er whose name I'm forgetting. Moore?
Corey Brown I'd assume. Hes alright. Good athlete, great power, solid tools, weak contact. Numbers are boosted by a bandbox park
Three years in a row of taking players that slide due to signability concerns.
Maybin, Miller and now Porcello.
It's too bad they spent all their money on Pudge and Magglio and didn't have any left over for scouting and development! :)
(looks like MLB teams got a memo about scouting African-Americans)
Bonderman, Verlander, Miller, Porcello looks good however you slice it.
BTW, Schilling has a no hitter going! (Just wanted to get the jinx in there.)
And apologies, Kyle. In the future, ####! might raise less ire without "the Tigers" added on. Though you must be chagrined you draft after Detroit after the Tigers spanked the MFY in the ALDS....

I'm going to try and make a call here: Burgess to NY.
Lugo just errored, you jinxed the perfect game!!!

3 more in the next 20...
But he still has a no hitter and a shut out!!!!!! Don't let me forget to mention that!
No, I understand, and it's cool. I don't actually dislike the Tigers, I was just pissed off at the moment. I think they got the best talent in the draft, to be honest, and I certainly don't think the Yankees deserve him any more than any other team.
And I think the Yankees screwed up big time. I would have taken the chance to see if he's there in the 2nd round.
By which, I mean that it's flashy.
Crisp just took a catch catch, to keep it alive
so, why does Atlanta get two draft picks before KC gets a second pick?
Danys Baez got them a supplemental and the O's 2nd rd pick
Gilmore sounds like a good pick though
where be Nevin Griffith?
predictions?
