So it looks like Chicago may just have to play that game against Detroit on Monday, huh?

Wait until the two teams also have to play a one-game playoff on Tuesday.

I would say tomorrow (Floyd v. Slowey) will basically decide the division champion. After Thursday, the Twins should be able to sweep Kansas City in that horrible, horrible dome while the Sox get the Indians (including Cliff Lee on Sunday).

Is BTF acting up on anybody? I'm using IE & it's the pages are looking... odd.

Given Floyd's surprisingly great season, the Sox should have the mound advantage tomorrow. If they lose that one...things get awfully sticky.

Well Floyd has dominated the Twins all season. However, Slowey threw a CG shutout in his last start against Shecago in the Dome.

ERAs for tommorrow's starters:

Floyd 3.84
Slowey 3.85

OK, there's park factor. Speaking of park factors though:

CWS Road: 35-45
MIN Home: 51-26

Stayed tuned tommorow.

Shecago

Love the Blyleven touch. Let me tell you, I'm missing him tonight after suffering through three hours with Hawk and DJ. And to miss Blyleven...well, that's really saying something.

It's mostly sour grapes, but postseason games should not be played in the Metrodome.

Slowey: 156 2/3 IP, 6.03 IP/Start, 120 K, 23 BB, 5.2 K:BB, 3.85 ERA, 1.143 WHIP, 108 ERA+
Floyd : 194 2/3 IP, 6.28 IP/Start, 133 K, 67 BB, 2.0 K:BB, 3.84 ERA, 1.238 WHIP, 119 ERA+

They profile as pretty similar pitchers. Floyd has been marginally more durable and the ERA+ illustrates the difference between the Dome and the Cell, but Slowey has been more effective at striking people out and keeping people off of the bases. I'd call the pitching matchup pretty even.

Just wondering: Why, exactly, did Ozzie Guillen juggle his rotation to start the series with Vazquez and then basically call Vazquez gutless in a press meeting the day before the game?

And one other point: Oz, if you love the Twins so much, how about resigning and getting a job as a cross-checker in the Minnesota organization? I'm really tired of hearing Ozzie talk about how great the Twins are. I guess this is his frustration bubbling over with the roster Kenny Williams has provided, but Guillen is the guy that made the decision to play Griffey and Mackowiak in center field over the last two years. The Sox can't execute a fundamental run-down. I watched a game earlier this month where they failed in four separate bunt attempts, all eventually resulting in outs. (News flash: It's tougher to win a baseball game with only 23 outs to spend offensively instead of 27.)

How about figuring out a way to win this gift division title with the roster you have, and taking a breather on expressing your undying affection for Ronnie Gardenhire and his friends?

fsn north had a clip of morneau saying that he loves playing the sox and loves their players; there's mutual admiration.

By the way, the sox are getting as much practice at folding as a $1 bill at a strip club.
