MLB.com: Twins can’t generate offense in loss

The Twins couldn’t muster any offense against Blue Jays pitching as they were blanked, 9-0, at Rogers Centre. With the loss, Minnesota (77-63) was swept by Toronto during the three-game series and fell 1 1/2 games behind the first place White Sox, who were idle on Thursday, in the American League Central.

Maybe the Obama campaign should run ads at the Metrodome: "At least our party didn't force your team on a possible season-destroying road trip. Obama '08"

I'm still not sure why the RNC convention forced the Twins on the road. They didn't use the Metrodome for any events, did they?

In any case, the race will boil down to the penultimate series in Minneapolis, and the Twins will win it.

Minneapolis needed all of its security presence to crack down on the protesters, as opposed to using it to help the Twins maintain security around the dome. The mayor would much rather move a few baseball games than risk being the guy who allowed a full scale riot to break out.

Anything to justify the early-season pessimism, eh? ;-)

This is a most mystifying season, to me. I'm eating serious crow on the Sox's chances this year. How can the Tribe suck so bad? Is underperforming their Pyth just something they have to do from time to time, like in '06?
