MLB.com: Sox lose nightcap, possibly Konerko Forget about the two losses suffered by the White Sox to the Blue Jays on Tuesday, capped off by a 8-2 setback in the night portion of a split doubleheader at U.S. Cellular Field that gave Toronto 10 straight wins.
...
Paul Konerko, one of the team’s hottest hitters and a true leader as the White Sox captain, was helped off the field during the fifth inning of Tuesday night’s defeat. Konerko rolled his right knee while planting to throw the ball to second base after cutting off Jermaine Dye’s throw on Alex Rios’ RBI single. He suffered a sprained MCL, with X-rays being negative. An MRI will be done on Konerko on Wednesday.
MLB.com: Twins one game back after sinking KC Back-to-back losses by the White Sox in a doubleheader vs. the Blue Jays gave the Twins an opportunity to make up significant ground in the pennant race, and Minnesota took advantage, picking up a 7-2 victory over Kansas City on Tuesday night in the series opener at the Metrodome.
The Twins’ victory was sparked by an offensive outburst against Royals starter Brian Bannister. The club extended Bannister’s winless streak to 13 starts, tagging him for seven runs on 10 hits over his 3 2/3 innings.

They needed to stay healthy in order to compete this year. That's true for any teams, but more so for the White Sox, who lack anything resembling major-league talent at the bottom end of the 40-man roster. With Contreras, Quentin, and now Konerko likely done for the year, I think they've got to hope that the Twins play like #### down the stretch - and the Twins have an easier schedule the rest of the way than the Sox do.
