Angels: Sabathia, Peavy could be options if club moves off Teixeira

According to multiple sources, the Angels are reluctant to come close to meeting the reported 10-year deal agent Scott Boras is seeking for the 28-year-old first baseman. Six or seven years—at about $20 million per—reportedly is the limit the Angels have projected for Teixeira.

One report, courtesy of Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com, suggests the Angels have moved on to CC Sabathia as their main target. It is conceivable they could sign Sabathia and also acquire Jake Peavy from the Padres, who have multiple needs the talent-rich Angels could satisfy.

If Jered Weaver is a centerpiece of a Peavy deal, imagine this rotation:

Sabathia, Peavy, John Lackey, Ervin Santana and Joe Saunders.

While Reagins now says...“Mark Teixeira is a priority”.

If Jered Weaver is a centerpiece of a Peavy deal, Reagins is a looney

Knobler (2nd Link Above) at CBS-Sportsline was brilliant (but still homely bordering on Quasimodoesque ugly) in bringing up Teixeira's knee, as this has not been brought up EVER - this forces Reagins to comment - so Knobler gets an exclusive. You bloggers taking notes?

Holy sh*t, Halo fans will be creaming themselves if this happens. They'd only need to score about 4 runs a game to win 100 again this year.

If Jered Weaver is a centerpiece of a Peavy deal, imagine this rotation:

Bwaa, ha, ha, ha...yeah like that's going to happen!

Between Jake Peavy and Trevor Hoffman, Padres pitchers are apparently going to play for every team in both leagues next year. And half of Japan.

So, who is the closer? Shields?

Maybe the Angels can trade some of their highly-regarded hitting prospects like Casey Kotchman, Dallas McPherson, and Brandon Wood for Peavy.

The Angels are really trying to get the story out there that they totally won't meet Boras' demands. There's a whole lot of other free agents they like! They're starting trade talks!

They don't need you, Mark, they're happy on their own. You're a nice guy, but you're not what they're looking for, not that this price.

What's that? 7/170 you say? Would you take 7/165? Welcome to the California Angels, Mark Teixeira. A pleasure doing business with your lovely and talented agent.

The Angels will still lose to the Red Sox in the playoffs, regardless of their rotation.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Well that was weird.
