AP: Brewers pitcher Chris Capuano likely facing another major elbow surgery

Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Chris Capuano was told Sunday that he has a torn ligament in his pitching elbow and will probably need Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career.

The 29-year-old Capuano injured his elbow in an exhibition game Monday against Seattle. He had an MRI on Thursday and team physician William Raasch confirmed the diagnosis of a torn ulnar collateral ligament.

Joe Garagiola Jr. was a genius.

I feel bad for Capuano. He's the one player in the Sexson trade that I always regretted giving away...
The Brewers may be forced to Mark Prior him out of town next offseason, and he could be a bargain in 2009...

As expected, the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday placed lefthander Chris Capuano on the 15-day disabled list.

Capuano visited the renowned Dr. James Andrews in Alabama on Wednesday, at which point he underwent a second MRI on his injured left elbow that revealed a sprained ulnar collateral ligament.

There was initial concern that Capuano would undergo “Tommy John” surgery and miss the entire season. But Andrews has recommended that Capuano rehab for three to four weeks, then begin a rehabilitation program.

Wow. Given how terribly the Sexson trade worked out for the Diamondbacks, I had always just figured that it was a great trade for the Brewers without really looking into it. Not so. I mean, Capuano had a couple of good years and Overbay fetched some filler when they traded him to the Blue Jays, but I'm pretty underwhelmed.

"Overbay fetched some filler"

Bush is a little better than filler, IMO.
