AP: Derek Jeter leaves New York Yankees game with strained left quadriceps

Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter left Monday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays with a strained left quadriceps.

ESPN is now reporting it’s a groin injury, FWIW.

Elsewhere: AP: Bartolo Colon placed on disabled list with side strain

Bartolo Colon had a setback in his attempt to return to the big leagues with the Boston Red Sox. The 2005 Cy Young Award winner, who is pitching for Triple-A Pawtucket, strained his right side.

I wonder if New York is considering Rodriguez as a temporary shortstop if Jeter stays unhealthy. It looks like 2005 was the last time he was there for a regular season game.

thats right, I remember a game he played in 2005, in a game against the Twins I think, in the metrodome.
