AP: Fielder homers in Brewers’ victory over D’backs

Prince Fielder STOLE THIRD BASE on a straight steal.  He also had an infield hit - future lead-off man!
(we won’t discuss either team’s late-inning defense)

Prince Fielder homered to leadoff the eighth and helped scratch across another run with an unlikely steal of third to lift the Milwaukee Brewers to a 4-3 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night.

Fielder, who went 3-for-4, drove a fastball by Arizona reliever Doug Slaten (0-2) deep to left-center field where it bounced off a stadium support just below a “Vote Brewers” All-Star banner to give Milwaukee its first lead, 4-3.

Who cares about the home. He stole a base tonight.

It'd be a lot more impressive if the D-backs weren't obviously paid to throw tonight's game.

What's going to happen more often:
Fielder launches a go-ahead home run, or Fielder pulls off a straight steal of third base?
:P

The NL West sucks pretty hard right now.

More appropriate headlines:
"Chad Qualls sucks ####"
"Mark Reynolds sucks ####"
"Doug Slaten sucks ####"

Prince Fielder is a vegetarian after-thought.

imagine how Gagne or a Turnbow would've responded to the throwing error by Kendall, and the Hall errant toss to start the top of the ninth.

Well, Kenji Johjima had a straight steal of third and a steal of home last week...

Letting Davis pitch to that second batter in the seventh was what did it.

Tell that to Oliver Perez

With tonight's 2 unearned runs, the Dbacks have allowed 34 unearned runs so far this year. That's tops in the majors; the Mets are second with 30.

However, the Dbacks have made 37 errors (14 TE, 23 FE), which is about league average. They just often make those errors with runners on base.

In other words, the Dbacks fielders just choke under pressure. Especially Reynolds and Jackson, who simply crap out in high leverage situations.

The NL West does suck, he just sucks more.

I love the walk of shame to the dugout for LOOGYs after Prince (or other lefty power hitters) puts one in the seats, and for managers to the mound to get the pitcher. When a 1 batter strategy fails, everybody looks stupid. Not that they shouldn't try it, I just think it's funny.

AP:
Hall wasn’t willing to address his apparent desire to be traded Tuesday, directing all questions to his agent.

“I’m not going to be a distraction for this team and what it wants to do,” Hall said.
...
“I understand his frustration,” Yost said. “But then again, this is a game of production, and you have to be able to step on that field and get the job done.”

Yost reiterated that he doesn’t consider the situation with Hall and Branyan to be a strict lefty-righty platoon, and Hall very well might get the chance to start against a right-hander in the foreseeable future. But Yost said it would be “foolish” not to keep playing Branyan during a hot streak.
...
“It’s nothing that I focus on or concern myself with,” Yost said. “The one thing I will say is that Billy’s been 100 percent professional through this whole ordeal.”
